Flight attendants and cabin crew from major international airlines get used to traveling the world and enjoying the lifestyle offered by airlines. Some layovers are just enough for adequate rest before flying back to base again. Sometimes, you may get a full day or night in the city and have a chance to see the sights, shop and eat the local food. Here we look at some flight attendant favorites.

10 Zanzibar

Zanzibar in Tanzania is a huge favorite with cabin crew at Emirates. They call it the most beautiful island on earth. This tropical island in the Indian Ocean is popular for its beautiful beaches and clear turquoise ocean. The old quarter is great for some culture and history. It's relatively underdeveloped and untouched by tourism, so a great place for the crew to grab some rest and beach time.

9 Buenos Aires

A LATAM Airlines flight attendant names Buenos Aires in Argentina as her favorite city. To try the best food in the city, head for the district of Puerto Madero. A boat trip down the Tigre Delta comes highly recommended. For relaxation and downtime, the Jardin Japones is the perfect place to recover from another long-haul flight.

8 Dublin

This Irish city is hugely popular, especially with flight attendants from the US. They like the friendliness of the city and the 'craic'. A stop for a local 'Guinness' at the Guinness Storehouse is essential, and visiting the likes of the Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral and Temple Bar will give a real feel for the city.

7 Maui

Maui, Hawaii, is another must-layover for US flight attendants. They love the perfect weather and beautiful beaches to take a well-earned rest from flights. For the more adventurous crew, there are plenty of water sports to take part in. The sunrise and sunset at Haleakala are not to be missed.

6 Maldives

The beautiful islands of the Maldives are loved by Qatar Airways cabin crew and are one of their favorite places for a layover. What's not to love when you can relax at pristine beaches and swim with the fish in clear seas?

5 Tokyo

The city is popular for its amazing nightlife, shopping, and, of course, the food. The flight attendants at Finnair love its versatility and that there is so much to see and do, no matter which part of the city you explore. The Narita area is most well known by crew for the local crew bars and entertainment, as well as the temple for those looking for something a little quieter.

4 London

Finnair crew also love London, but it is extremely popular with cabin crew at Singapore Airlines and Japan Airlines. Of course, they like to visit all the major attractions like Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral. Also, it is much loved for shopping, including Regent Street, and of course, a visit to Harrods is a must.

3 New York

The city that never sleeps, and just as well as you could be on a very short overnight layover. Of course, famous sights will always be an attraction, especially Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty. Naturally, for many crew, by day, it's all about Central Park, the shopping and the cozy diners.

2 Bangkok

Many international cabin crew mention Bangkok as one of their favorite cities. It's overwhelming and stimulates all the senses. There is lots to see and do in the city, including visiting the famous temples and taking a boat ride or tuk-tuk to explore. The markets can not be missed for the shopping and of course the great street food. The nightlife can be interesting!

1 San Francisco

This city is probably the most highly rated by international cabin crew. They like its friendly laid back feeling and the cultural melting pot that it is. There is a mixture of the old and new to explore, and the must-see Golden Gate Bridge and Fishermans Wharf for photo opportunities. A visit to Chinatown for foodies is a must, and don't forget to ride on a cable car.

For a few final mentions, Singapore is popular with crew for its amazing food and electronics shopping. Dubai is often minimum rest for most crew, but they know where to go for the best food and shopping. Paris also deserves a mention as popular for the sightseeing opportunities.
