Aerolíneas Argentinas has recently announced the launch of a new route between Mendoza and Rio de Janeiro. The new route was presented by the Commercial Director of Aerolíneas Argentinas, Fabián Lombardo, during the 49th edition of the ABAV EXPO 2022 Fair in Recife and attended by travel agencies and operators from all over Brazil.
At the fair, in addition to launching the summer routes, the Argentine airline emphasized its strong commitment to inbound tourism and its current flight services between São Paulo and Salta, Tucumán, Córdoba, El Calafate, and flights arriving in Buenos Aires from other cities in Brazil. Pablo Ceriani, CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas, highlighted:
"These flights are the result of Aerolíneas’ commitment to connectivity and are part of the commercial strategy we are carrying out to continue expanding the flight network between Brazil and Argentina since it is our most important international market."
Launching in January...
The direct flights between Mendoza and Rio de Janeiro will take off on January 3rd, with Aerolíneas Argentinas planning for a twice-weekly frequency. Previously, the route had a stopover in São Paulo, so operating a direct flight for this route now is relatively new for the Argentine flag carrier.

Further expansions in Brazil...
Interestingly, Rio de Janeiro isn't the only Brazilian expansion that Aerolíneas Argentinas has planned, as the airline will launch another three routes between Argentina and Brazil. The new additions are flights connecting Córdoba with Florianopolis and Rio de Janeiro. Similar to the Mendoza-São Paulo route, these flights will commence in January.
The Boeing 737-800 / Boeing 737 MAX 8 will operate:

And for the first time since the onset of the pandemic, Aerolíneas Argentinas will be restoring flight services between Rosario and Florianopolis, with flights commencing on January 2nd and a twice-weekly frequency on Mondays and Fridays.
Increasing the domestic presence...
Aerolíneas Argentinas has certainly been busy expanding its international network during the past several months, such as when it increased frequencies on its Buenos Aires-Montevideo route. However, the airline has been equally busy expanding its domestic presence in Argentina, having previously launched the Atlantic Corridor in July. In yet another domestic expansion, Aerolíneas Argentinas will be operating regular flights between its hub at Aeroparque Airport and Valle del Conlara Airport.
Valle del Conlara Airport serves the areas of Villa de Merlo and Santa Rosa del Conlara, and this new route will mark the first of its kind in Aerolíneas Argentinas's history. Commencing on December 1st, the new route will have a twice-weekly frequency on Thursdays and Sundays, operating on the airline's Embraer E-190 aircraft configured for 96 passengers.

Celebrating the launch of the first-of-its-kind route for the airline was Ceriani, who said:
"Announcing a new destination is always special because every plane with tourists is revenue, jobs, and growth. We hope these flights will add muscle to tourism development in the province of San Luis."
The new route will also complement Aerolíneas Argentinas's route between Buenos Aires-San Luis, which was recently increased from seven to nine flights per week.
