You’ve got to love a Black Friday deal, but even more so when it could see you upgrading to business class for a hundred dollars or so. Or, even better, flying all over the world for a bargain price. If this sounds good to you, then we suggest you head on over to Aegean for their Black Friday Miles+ Bonus program, where they’re offering a 100% bonus on purchased miles.
From now until Saturday 24th November, Aegean will double the number of miles you buy, letting you go further and get more for less. This is a seriously competitive offer, and the best we’ve seen from Aegean (or any provider) so far this year.
Already one of the most lucrative Star Alliance award programs, Aegean’s Miles+ Bonus is one of the easiest award schemes to earn elite status on. Redemption costs are highly competitive too, although sometimes the precise terms of the redemption system can be complex.
What’s on offer?
Normally, the cost of buying Aegean miles is 25 Euro per 1,000 miles; that’s around $28. Now, you can get double the miles for the same price, no matter how many miles you buy.
In the past, there has been a requirement to max your mileage purchase in order to qualify for the gift, but today it’s simply any purchase plus the same again completely free of charge. This is a great opportunity to top up your miles, or to get some great upgrades for not much cash at all.
As an example, I had already booked an amazing deal on a flight from the UK (LHR) to Los Angeles (LAX) with United Airlines as my carrier. To upgrade from economy to business was going to require 7,000 miles each for myself and my travelling companion, which would normally cost 175 Euros each, just short of $200, adding $400 to the cost of our trip.
But, thanks to the amazing Aegean Miles+ Bonus promotion, I’ve secured an upgrade to business for $200 for both of us. Personally, I think an extra $100 to travel in style and comfort is well worth the investment.
Where can you fly?
In terms of redeemable miles, you’re looking at a price of around 1.45 cents per mile, which is pretty darn good. However, if you’re using a credit card to buy miles, the additional rewards earned could drive this cost down even further.
Both United and Air Canada are in Star Alliance, so if you’re looking to fly domestically over the holidays, this could be a great chance to fly for free, or to upgrade. A round trip ticket within North America will cost you 25,000 points in economy, or 45,000 in business. That business class trip would cost you around $600 with today’s promotion.
Fancy going further? There are so many top quality partners in Star Alliance you’ll be spoilt for choice. Flying to Asia on the Skytrax number one carrier, Singapore Airlines costs from 100,000 points, or head to Africa on Lufthansa for 75,000 one way in first class!
