Air Canada Jetz is a charter airline and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Canada, Canada's flag carrier. The airline predominantly operates charter flights for corporate clients and professional sports teams with its premium-only narrowbody aircraft. The airline is currently an affiliate member of the Star Alliance, as it is a subsidiary of Air Canada, one of the founding members of the alliance.

Founding

Air Canada Jetz was founded on October 31st, 2001, in Montreal, QC. It commenced operations on the same day it was founded. The airline was initially headed by the former President of Air Alliance, Robert Perrault, but is now under the leadership of Alain Boudreau.

Fleet

Air Canada Jetz solely operates single-aisle narrowbody aircraft. The airline operated two Boeing 737-200s when it was founded in 2001, but they were transferred to Zip, an Air Canada budget subsidiary, just two years later in 2003. In 2003 and 2004, the airline switched from an all-Boeing fleet to an all-Airbus fleet consisting of four Airbus A320-200s. The airline further expanded its A320 fleet to five in 2010. In the same year, the airline acquired an Airbus A319-100 to consolidate its position in the market for smaller-capacity aircraft.

In 2012, five of the six aircraft belonging to Air Canada Jetz were transferred to Air Canada, leaving the airline with just one aircraft. However, by 2013, the airline had three aircraft in its fleet again, all of which were the Airbus A319-100. Two of the three were transferred to Air Canada Rouge in June 2014 and to Air Canada in June 2015, respectively.

Two additional aircraft were purchased in September 2015, and in December 2020, Air Canada Jetz acquired an additional Airbus A319-100, leaving the airline with four aircraft. Nevertheless, three of the four have been listed as parked or stored. Air Canada Jetz's Airbus A320-200s are listed as having 64 business class seats, while its A319-100s have 58.

Clients

Air Canada Jetz is currently the official carrier of many sports teams. The airline effectively signs contracts to fly sports teams to their away games in other cities. Jetz has contracts with all seven Canadian teams and two American teams of the National Hockey League (NHL), including the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres and the Seattle Kraken. In addition to Hockey, Air Canada Jetz is also the official carrier of the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB).

In addition to contracts with sports teams, Air Canada Jetz also has leasing services available to all customers. Past clients have included the Rolling Stones, the Spice Girls, American Express, Honda and Toyota. Jetz offers a personalized concierge service for its clients to check in on their charter flights, and often has a private boarding area dedicated to Jetz passengers. The airline also has an extensive list of food and beverage options for customers to pre-select prior to their flights, allowing for even more customization.
