Air Europa is set to increase its flight operations to the United States next month as international travel demand picks up. From June, the Spanish carrier will add frequencies to its Miami and New York routes.

Air Europa ups stateside schedule

Air Europa will bolster its schedule on flights to Miami (MIA) and New York (JFK) from its hub in Madrid (MAD). The carrier will operate six weekly Miami flights and five weekly New York flights from June.

The new MAD-MIA schedule is as follows:

  • (Flight UX 97) Departs Madrid at 15:25, arrives in Miami at 18:45 - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • (Flight UX 98) Departs Miami at 21:30 – arrives in Madrid at 12:05+1 - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

MAD-JFK:

  • (Flight UX 91) Departs Madrid at 15:35, arrives in New York at 17:45 - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • (Flight UX 92) Departs New York at 22:05, arrives in Madrid 11:20+1 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Currently, Miami and New York are the only two US destinations served by Air Europa. In 2019, MAD-JFK was the busiest long-haul route from Madrid Airport, handling over one million passengers annually.

MAD-MIA was almost as popular with over 720,000 passengers transported over the year, making it the second-busiest route between the US and Spain.

Air Europa will now operate 11 weekly roundtrips between these two destinations, with a total of 6,758 weekly seats. After disruption in the wake of the COVID pandemic, Air Europa returned to Miami and New York in June last year.

Served by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Air Europa will deploy its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners on all flights to Miami and New York.

The airline's Boeing 787-8 will fly between New York and Madrid, offering 296 seats in a two-class configuration - 22 in business and 274 in economy.

The Boeing 787-9 will serve its Miami operations. The aircraft has capacity for 339 passengers - 32 in business in 307 in economy.

Air Europa has now operated its Dreamliner fleet for over six years since taking delivery of its first 787-8 in March 2016. The carrier has 18 Dreamliners - eight 787-8s and 10 787-9s - with plenty more on the way.

Fleet expansion this year

Air Europa is set to welcome several narrow and widebody aircraft this year as its ramps up operations, including six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as part of its order for 20 MAXs.

The airline, which expects to fully recover its pre-pandemic capacity this year, will also lease four Dreamliners from Norse Atlantic and welcome an additional Dreamliner in 2022.
