Air Europa is set to increase its flight services between Madrid and Lima from the current five times weekly flight services to an upgraded six times weekly. Operating on this unique route between the capitals of Spain and Peru will be the airline's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, allowing for the Air Europa to offer approximately 2,000 seats per week in each section.

An upgraded schedule

The flights from Air Europa's Madrid hub to Lima will have two different time allocations, one for the extremely early morning and the other one much later in the night. As opposed to the timing from Lima back to Madrid, which seems much friendlier if passengers aren't exactly early risers or night owls.

Being a sporty competitor

Between the Madrid-Lima and vice versa route, there is already a presence of healthy competition with the likes of Iberia, LATAM Peru, and Plus Ultra, and all three of these airlines are currently serving daily frequencies. This could explain the reason for the upgraded schedule on the part of Air Europa, as the airline would certainly have to do something better to compete with the three other airlines.

And not to mention, trying to bag some profits along the way as Air Europa hasn't been doing financially as of late with the scrapped International Airlines Group (IAG) deal last year, and then having to pay a hefty fine pertaining many millions to the State earlier this year. Using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a seating capacity of 335 seats in total, it would definitely help if the Spanish carrier could achieve full bookings in the increased schedule.

Heavy focus in the Americas

The increase for the Madrid-Lima route is just the latest in the airline's plan, as Air Europa had also just recently reinstated its operations with one daily flight between São Paulo and Madrid.

Due to restart on March 27th, flight UX58 will depart Guarulhos airport at 02:05 PM, arriving in Madrid at 05:15 AM. For the return leg, flight UX57 will depart from the Spanish capital at 11:45 PM, arriving in São Paulo at 05:25 AM. This schedule allows for passengers, once in Madrid, to make a quick connection with other European cities. For example Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris, etc.

It seems to look like the Mallorca-based airline has been emphasizing heavily its intent to strengthen its presence in America, as stated by Air Europa's general manager for the Americas, Diego Garcia:

"The resumption of daily flights between São Paulo and Madrid demonstrates the recovery of the sector and the increase in demand for connections between the region and Europe. We have a high-quality service, with new and modern aircraft. This one offers much more comfort to the passenger. We already serve 20 destinations in the Americas and will soon grow more."

And besides the Americas, Air Europa seems intent on possibly emphasizing on increasing operations to Argentina as well - although the airline only serves two cities such as Buenos Aires and Córdoba currently. Despite the lack of cities as of right now, Air Europa makes up with its frequencies as it operates on a four-times-weekly schedule between Madrid, Asunción, and Córdoba with the exception of Tuesdays and Thursdays. And as for frequencies to the Argentine capital, Air Europa serves it with daily flights.
