Earlier this week, Air France announced a fresh new list of popular tourist destinations for its summer 2020 schedule. Customers will be able to choose from a list of holiday hotspots around the Mediterranean.

French flag carrier Air France has some good news for customers planning their summer holiday getaways. On Wednesday, the airline announced a number of new destinations that will be available to customers this summer.

Mediterranean destinations galore

It looks like Air France has concentrated its summer expansion on Mediterranean destinations.

They're popular with tourists and likely to be a hot seller. But, for now, the new routes will only be a temporary addition for the peak holiday season between July and August.

Air France has focused on one country in particular - Greece. With three separate destinations, Mykonos, Santorini and Thessaloniki, there's plenty for admirers of beaches and island getaways to choose from.

All three summer flights to Greece will depart from Paris Charles de Gaulle and will be operated by Air France’s Airbus A320s during the period 13 July to 30 August.

Flights to and from Mykonos will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays, whilst flights to and from Santorini will operate on Wednesdays only.

The most frequent of the three Greek destinations, Thessaloniki, will operate on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Something a bit different

In case you still want to travel to the Mediterranean, but fancy something a bit different, Air France will also be offering summer flights to Djerba, a small island off the coast of Tunisia.

According to Air France’s press release announcing the new routes, Djerba offers “a host of leisure activities and escapades, sightseeing and relaxation, palm and olive trees.”

As with the flights to Greece, Air France’s Paris Charles de Gaulle to Djerba route will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A320s between 13 July and 30 August.

It will, however, be more frequent, flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Something closer to home

For passengers living in France or somewhere else in North-Western Europe, Air France will also be running flights to a final summer destination which won’t take anywhere near as long to reach.

Between 20 June and 26 September, Air France will be operating flights between Brest and Calvi. Brest sits on the tip of Brittany’s Atlantic coast, and probably won’t be blessed with quite the same sunshine as destinations in the Mediterranean. But Calvi, a small town on the French island of Corsica, should offer a great mix of sun and adventure.

As a less in-demand route, the flights from Brest to Calvi will be flown using Air France’s Embraer E-190s. The flights will also only be operated once a week on Saturdays.

Additional flights

On top of the new destinations for summer 2020, Air France will also be adding extra capacity to a number of its routes out of Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly.

On top of this, the airline also says it will be adding 16 new routes to its books over the course of 2020, including Algiers, Monrovia and Faro.
