Air Senegal will again serve Accra, Ghana, from its Dakar hub. While the carrier inevitably mainly focuses on Francophone countries in West and Central Africa, transit passengers to/from the USA, Milan, and Casablanca will be vital for Anglophone Ghana. London too, if it materializes. The UK capital was revealed in 2020 and subsequently pulled because of the pandemic.

Air Senegal to Accra

It is the second time around for Dakar-Accra. The route, 1,308 miles (2,105km) apart, began in December 2019. It was 4x weekly using two-class, 120-seat A319s. It routed Dakar-Accra-Lagos and back and had fifth freedom traffic rights between the Ghanaian and Nigerian cities. Focusing on connections to other West African destinations, it left Senegal at 02:00 and arrived back 12 hours later.

It is different this time. While it is still 4x weekly by the A319, the schedule has completely changed, as shown below, with all times local. It is now designed to connect to the US, Europe, and North Africa.

  • Dakar-Accra: HC305, 16:00-19:10 (2h 40m block time); Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays
  • Accra-Dakar: HC306, 20:20-23:30 (3h 10m); Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays

Connects to the US, Europe, North Africa

With typically sub-daily flights and a small fleet, Air Senegal schedules its routes to connect on a two-way basis where it makes the most sense. Not surprisingly, this typically means where the demand is greatest. Thus, its new Accra timings mean it connects to Baltimore, JFK, Casablanca, and Milan. It doesn't connect to regional French cities or elsewhere. (Paris would be connectable, but it isn't bookable.)

The following are all bookable. Note that I've only included days that enable transfers to/from Accra. For example, you could leave Accra at 20:20 on a Monday, arrive in Dakar at 23:30, and leave for JFK/Baltimore at 02:00. The following Monday, you could arrive in Dakar at 12:15 and leave for Ghana at 16:00.

  • Baltimore/JFK: from Dakar at 02:00 on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Sundays; in Dakar at 12:15 on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays
  • Casablanca: from Dakar at 03:20 on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays; in Dakar at 12:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays
  • Milan: from Dakar at 01:20 on Saturdays and Sundays; into Dakar at 14:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays
