Air Serbia and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia have struck a deal that will see 10,000 Serbian healthcare workers access discount vouchers on the Serbian flag carrier's flights. Let's take a look at the details.

Air Serbia to give discounts to healthcare workers

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia and Air Serbia have launched a campaign called "Time For A Break" that will give flight vouchers to 10,000 healthcare professionals working in roles contributing to the country's COVID-19 response. Air Serbia is heavily involved in Serbia's COVID-19 response.

The agreement on this cooperation between Air Serbia and the state of Serbia was signed last week by Serbia's Minister of Health, Zlatibor Lončar, and Air Serbia's CEO, Duncan Naysmith, at a ceremony in the Palace of Serbia, in the presence of representatives of health institutions, doctors and nurses.

The promo vouchers provide a 50% discount on tickets for any Air Serbia short-haul flight. The discount is slightly different to most other such schemes worldwide in that it covers both the actual air fare as well as the airport fees.

They can be used for flights between 1st July and 31st December 2021.

Marking the occasion, Serbia's Minister of Health, Zlatibor Lončar, said:

"The Ministry of Health will always support every initiative of socially responsible companies, such as Air Serbia, which express their gratitude to health workers. (...) That is why we would like to thank Air Serbia for their support, and we look forward to continuing our cooperation"

Meanwhile, Air Serbia's CEO, Duncan Naysmith, said:

"It is our great pleasure to be able to express our gratitude to health workers for their everyday dedication to saving lives and the health of all citizens. How will the vouchers be distributed?

Air Serbia's vouchers will be distributed to the University Clinical Centre of Serbia, several clinical and hospital centers, COVID hospitals in Batajnica and Kruševac, and other healthcare institutions in the COVID-19 system.

It is not possible to make use of the vouchers online. If a healthcare worker wants to use apply a discount, they need to verify their identity with a certificate of employment issued by a healthcare institution in the Ministry’s jurisdiction.

Thus, tickets with these discounts can only be used in the Air Serbia branch office in Belgrade, or by contacting the Air Serbia Contact Centre.
