Air Transat, the third-largest Canadian carrier, has finalized the last flight of their Airbus A310 service to the 27th of April, 2020. The flight, Quebec City to Paris return, will be the last time the Airbus A310 sees service for the carrier.
Why is Transat retiring the A310?
For those who missed it, Transat is planning to retire its six aging A310s, to be replaced with more modern Airbus A321LR aircraft. They have two of the new aircraft currently delivered and are expecting another 13 to arrive over the next year.
The arrival of this new generation of aircraft is an important moment for our company and our passengers in many respects. The Airbus A321neoLR represents what Air Transat stands for today and what we strive for in the coming years. It reinforces our position as a leader in sustainable tourism, while also offering our passengers a superior on-board experience. In addition, the aircraft’s long-range will optimize our operations in our core markets, namely in our destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.” - Annick Guérard, Chief Operating Officer at Transat, said in a press release.
The A321LR is superior to the A310 only because of the endless march of technology.
If you miss these flights and really want to fly on an Airbus A310, your best bet would be to fly out to Yemen to fly on their national carrier or Mahan Air of Iran.
