The carrier will operate the flights with its Airbus A220-300 jet - the only aircraft type in its fleet. airBaltic became an all-A220 operator when it retired the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 earlier this month after flying the turboprop for over a decade.

“Two beautiful cities”

Flights between Tampere and Nice are scheduled to take three hours and 35 minutes, and between Tampere and Milan – three hours, and 45 minutes, according to the airline.

Martin Gauss, the President, and CEO of airBaltic said the airline is pleased to add the new service to its route network. He commented,

“In a few months we will be celebrating the first anniversary of our base in Tampere, and so far the demand from Finnish passengers has met our expectations. Following the success, we at airBaltic are thrilled to add these two beautiful cities to our route network, as both Nice and Milan are very popular travel choices. We hope that this year the passenger demand will gradually grow even more, therefore we may launch additional new destinations to various business hubs and leisure destinations over time.”

Flights from Tampere to Nice, France, will operate twice weekly, beginning on May 2, 2023. Milan flights will also operate twice a week and commence on May 4th. airBaltic offers economy and business class seats with five ticket types that cater to any traveler.

Just economy & business

In economy class, the GREEN ticket type is suitable for passengers who enjoy a no-frills air travel experience and travel with hand luggage only, according to the airline. The GREEN plus ticket includes one piece of checked baggage on top of all that the GREEN ticket has to offer. And the CLASSIC ticket is a comfort class product that includes checked bags, advance seat reservation, and business class check-in.

The airline offers BUSINESS light and BUSINESS ticket types for business class. Passengers in the class can enjoy amenities, including two cabin bags and a personal item, two checked bags, early bird online check-in, priority airport check-in, and an in-flight meal. The airline also offers business class passengers the ability to rebook flights before departure free of change fees, but the fare difference does apply. The only difference between the two ticket types is that BUSINESS light is non-refundable.

Flying fast and deliciously

airBaltic said its inflight meals are freshly made with the finest ingredients shortly before the flight. The carrier allows economy class passengers to make the most of their time in the air by pre-ordering meals from five days up to one hour before departure. For passengers who do not pre-order, meals are available for purchase through airBaltic SKY service.

Business class passengers are reportedly served a seasonal three-course meal and offered a wide selection of beverages throughout the flight. Depending on the flight duration and departure time, meals will consist of an appetizer, a hot or cold main course, and a dessert.

Passengers will also experience new high-speed internet connection on the A220 thanks to the airline’s partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink WiFi system.
