Indian low-cost carrier Akasa Air started flying to and from its 13th destination, Hyderabad, on January 25th. The airline welcomed the city to its network earlier this month and now connects it with Bengaluru and Goa. Hyderabad is one of many cities recently added to Akasa’s network map, which has been progressively expanding since the airline’s launch in August last year.
Hello, Hyderabad!
Akasa Air has begun flying to the South Indian state of Telangana, launching flights from its capital city Hyderabad (HYD). On January 25th, it started connecting the city with daily flights to Bengaluru (BLR) and Goa (GOX), with its first flight QP1415 from Bengaluru to Hyderabad landing at 11:24.
From February 15th, two additional Hyderabad-Bengaluru frequencies will be added, taking the daily departures from Hyderabad to four. Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder, and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air, commented,
“Commencing operations from Hyderabad, our 13th destination with daily flights to Goa and Bengaluru further strengthens our presence in southern India. A hub for major industries, the city is not only the perfect gateway to the growing demand for business but is also a popular destination for leisure travel. We are pleased with the pace at which we are growing and connecting cities across India.”
This comes soon after Akasa began flying to Goa’s Manohar International Airport (GOX). After Mumbai (BOM) and Pune (PNQ), Goa is the third city in the western part of India to be added to the airline’s network.

New offerings
Amid all the new flights, Akasa is also mindful of its product offering to distinguish itself from the competition. To mark Makar Sankranti, a Hindu harvest festival that is celebrated in mid-January annually, Akasa launched new items on its menu list, such as Rajwadi Khichdi (made of rice, lentils, and vegetables) and sesame-flavored pan-fried potatoes accompanied with Peanut Chikki (peanuts with jaggery).
It has also introduced its in-flight safety manual in Braille for people with visual impairments and offers it in two languages: English and Hindi.
