American Airlines has fewer B777-300ERs than any other aircraft type or variant in its fleet. An average of 8.6 years old, it has 20 B777-300ERs, all but two of which are active when writing this article.
American's B777-300ERs
The first US airline to operate the largest and heaviest B777 variant, American has been flying the B777-300ER for nearly 10 years. The first example, registered N717AN, arrived in December 2012, with the tenth anniversary just three months away.
Each of American's 20 B777-300ERs has 304 seats, the largest number across its fleet. However, 304 seats is relatively low compared to many other carriers, resulting from a four-class cabin. Obviously, this dictates where they've used: premium and higher demanded markets.
Its B777-300ERs have eight fully flat, office-style Flagship First seats, each with direct aisle access and more space (1-2-1 layout); 52 fully flat Flagship Business seats (1-2-1); 28 premium economy recliner-style seats (2-4-2); and 216 economy seats (generally 3-4-3), some sold as Main Cabin Extra with more legroom. However, American has said it'll eliminate first class, meaning denser cabins are coming.

Where used this winter?
The Northern Hemisphere winter season 2022 runs from Sunday, October 30th, until Saturday, March 25th. In this period, airlines, including American, will adopt winter schedules.
As of September 15th, Cirium shows that the oneworld airline plans to use its B777-300ERs on 10 routes this winter, as summarized below. They include Los Angeles-Sydney, replacing the lower-capacity B787-9 for the higher demanded Christmas and New York periods, meaning 7% more seats per flight. While fewer economy seats are available, Flagship Business seats will rise by 73%, premium economy by 33%, and there will be Flagship First.

A one-off domestic flight
On October 30th, a B777-300ER will leave Dallas at 10:26 as AA2208. With a 3h 36m block time, it will arrive in New York at 15:00 local, completing what is surely effectively a positioning flight. Note that AA2208 is not a normal flight number on the 1,391-mile (2,239km) route.
Up to 12 daily flights
On randomly chosen Tuesday, January 3rd, American will have 12 B777-300ER departures from the US, the joint highest number this winter. Its schedule is as follows, organized by local departure time.
