All Nippon Airways has announced a series of changes to its international schedule in light of current demand. However, ANA will still be operating at less than one-third of its pre-pandemic plan despite upping its flights.

ANA updates international network

As international travel continues its recovery, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has updated its international schedule over the summer, including more flights to Europe and the US.

ANA said,

"All Nippon Airways (ANA) is updating its international flight schedule for service from June 14th to October 30th, 2022 to select cities in response to the shift in travel regulations and public health measures of various countries as well as the latest passenger and cargo demand trends."

Schedule changes

ANA will first increase frequencies on its regional network in June before a broader expansion of European services in July.

From June 14th, ANA will fly between Singapore and Tokyo Narita (NRT) once a day, while its service between Singapore and Tokyo Haneda (HND) will increase to five weekly flights from June 20th.

From July 1st, the airline's European schedule will include daily flights between HND and London Heathrow (LHR) and the resumption of its Tokyo-Paris route. ANA will also offer thrice-weekly flights to Paris (CDG) and 10 flights to Frankfurt (FRA) in August, while services to Munich and Vienna will remain suspended.

The carrier will also operate two weekly flights between NRT and Brussels Airport (BRU) in July and August and an additional interim flight from Chicago (ORD) to Osaka (KIX) in July.

Changing routes

For flights between HND and CDG, ANA will fly on the northern polar route, offering a shorter flight time than the Central Asia route. This could shave approximately 30-90 minutes off the flight time and will not require refueling at transit points.

ANA suspended a number of its European routes in March in the wake of the Ukraine conflict due to Russian airspace closing.

ANA said,

"As the local restrictions and quarantine guidelines are evolving, ANA is monitoring the conditions of demand trends and travel viability as it determines the frequency of flights and when to resume certain routes."

Japan will reopen its borders to foreign tourists from June 10th and has doubled its daily arrivals cap from 10,000 to 20,000. The country is considering increasing the limit to 30,000 daily arrivals in July.
