Avelo Airlines will open two new routes to Binghamton, New York, this November. The airline will provide non-stop service from Binghamton to Orlando, Florida, and Fort Myers, Florida. These will be the first non-stop connections between Florida and New York's southern tier. The routes will be flown twice per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

These routes will increase Avelo's total network to 31 destinations. The airline foresees steady travel demand for these routes year round as both Florida destinations are popular with tourists regardless of the season. Local officials in Binghamton have expressed their gratitude and excitement for this new low-cost alternative that Avelo is bringing to their community.

Underserved market

This morning, August 31st, Avelo Airlines announced that it would open a new route connecting Binghamton, New York, with Fort Myers, Florida, and the airline's hub in Orlando, Florida. The routes will embark on their Inaugural flights on November 16th. They will be flown twice-weekly on the airline's Boeing 737s.

The airline has launched this route to meet the demand for non-stop travel between the southern tier of New York and Florida. It anticipates that it will see high customer traffic levels through all four seasons as both Florida destinations attract tourists year-round. The airline has shown great enthusiasm in introducing this new route. Andrew Levy, the Avelo Airlines CEO and Chairman, stated,

"Binghamton – say hello to Avelo! We're excited to add Binghamton as our first New York destination to Avelo's U.S. network. Traveling to The Sunshine State is now more affordable and easier than ever. Southern Tier residents can now choose from two sun-soaked non-stop destinations — Orlando and Florida's majestic Gulf Coast. Say hello to convenient and cost-friendly hometown airport access to The Sunshine State and say goodbye to long and expensive gas-guzzling drives to those other distant New York airports."

A grateful community

Avelo will be the first airline to offer these direct services, and only the second schedule service to frequent Binghamton's airport. Currently, only Delta Connection flies to Detroit from the facility. The routes will be launched with a low promotional fare of $79 for the inaugural flights. Members of the Binghamton community have expressed gratitude and excitement for these new routes. Mark Heefner C.M., the Greater Binghamton Airport's Commissioner of Aviation, shared,

"Service to Florida is something our community has requested for over 20 years. Our partnership with Avelo not only addresses that need but lays the foundation for successful service for years to come. A lot of hard work went into this announcement, and we are humbled and grateful for Avelo's faith in our community. We are excited for the opportunity to fill airplanes year-round to Florida with Avelo."

A growing airline

Since beginning service in Spring 2021, Avelo has seen great success and rapid expansion. It has now flown over 8,500 flights from its three coastal hubs. It has hubs in Hartford, Connecticut; Burbank, California; and Orlando, Florida. From these hubs, it services 29 destinations. These two new routes will bring that number up to 31. It intends to further expand into every underserved market it sees an opportunity.
