Breeze Airways is preparing for the opening of its next base at Rhode Island airport by putting together a workforce for smooth operations. The airline is inviting applications for various positions and will bring hundreds of jobs to Providence over the next 12 years.

Hiring for the new base

Breeze Airways is hiring for its upcoming base at Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) in Providence, which will open on March 29th. It has begun posting positions for various roles, including flight attendants, aircraft mechanics, ground personnel, and pilots, among others.

The airline has said that it will bring a total of 250 jobs to Providence over a 12-year commitment, with an estimated average annual pay of $90,000. Some of the job postings include direct entry A220 captains, first officers, flight attendants, supervisor of inflight services, and lead aircraft maintenance technician. Tom Doxey, Breeze Airways’ President, commented,

“As we gear up to start our base operations in Providence, we are looking for skilled, nice people who want to help us build a Seriously Nice™ airline. Breeze is bringing more jobs to Rhode Island, including postings for pilots, flight attendants, and ground personnel. Coming from a technical operations background myself, I’m looking forward to growing our maintenance and materials team in Providence, along with our other team groups.”

Elizabeth Tanner, Rhode Island Secretary of Commerce, is also expecting this expansion to be a driver of economic development and tourism in the Ocean State, through the hundreds of good-paying jobs and dozens of additional flights the new base will bring.

Big plans

Currently, Breeze serves more than a dozen destinations from PVD, including flights to LAX starting May 17th. The airline announced the Rhode Island base last year and also provided a roadmap for the coming years at PVD.

The carrier plans to expand its PVD network to around 20 routes over the next five years. By the end of this year alone, Breeze hopes to have around 20 weekly departures from Rhode Island airport, which could increase to 44 a week by 2027.

Quick expansion

In a relatively short period of time, Breeze has had a significant fleet and network expansion. It began service in May 2021 and now offers 121 nonstop routes between 35 cities in 20 states. It primarily focuses on providing affordable flights between secondary airports, bypassing hubs for shorter travel times.

Breeze has several new routes lined up in the 2023 summer season, including three additional routes to Orange County after securing more slots.
