US newcomer Breeze Airways has launched flights from Tulsa (TUL) to Nashville (BNA). The inaugural flight will depart Tulsa at 5.30 pm on June 2nd, and the new route will be the only non-stop service connecting the two cities.

The route

The seasonal route will operate twice per week from June to August and again from October to December. The flights will initially be operated by Breeze Airways’ Embraer 190 aircraft, seating 108 passengers. However, from July, they will move over to the carrier’s brand-new Airbus A220.

Breeze Airways’ Airbus A220 aircraft feature between 126 and 137 seats, depending on the configuration, in three classes – Nice, Nicer, and Nicest.

Flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays at the following times:

  • Tulsa to Nashville – departing at 5.30 pm, arriving at 7.05 pm
  • Nashville to Tulsa – departing at 2.55pm, arriving at 4.40pm

Service extended beyond the peak summer

The flights were originally planned to end in August, but will now return to operate again between October and December, following a short break in September. When speaking about the route launch, chief commercial officer at Tulsa International Airport, Andrew Pierini, said,

“We are excited for Tulsans to be able to get to Nashville nonstop and explore all the city has to offer Thank you to our partners at Breeze who saw the strong initial bookings on the new route and have already extended the route’s seasonality through the end of 2022.”

Breeze Airways’ point-to-point flights between secondary airports are plugging a significant gap in the market, and offer passengers the added bonus of quicker travel times. The airline, which recently celebrated its first birthday, has expanded significantly in recent months.

The launch marks the second route from Tulsa International Airport to be served by Breeze Airways – the airline commenced year-round flights to Tampa (TPA) in June 2021.

David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, commented,

“There are a significant number of unserved markets from Tulsa that will provide us with many years of growth opportunities. And we're thrilled to be able to give Tulsa residents nonstop service so they can get where they want to go twice as fast for half the cost.”

Breeze Airways – a ‘Seriously Nice’ airline

Breeze Airways was born during the pandemic, and began operations in May 2021. Its founder and CEO, David Neeleman, previously co-founded WestJet, JetBlue, and Brazil's Azul Linhas Areas.

The airline’s mission is to make the world of travel simple, affordable, and convenient, using technology, ingenuity, and kindness to improve the travel experience.

Today Breeze Airways has 17 aircraft in its fleet – a mixture of Embraer 190s, Embraer 195s, and Airbus A220s. The carrier’s first Airbus A220 entered into service at the end of May 2022, and the airline currently has four of the type in its fleet, with a further 76 on order.
