Maximizing the promotion by purchasing 60,000 miles you will receive a total including a 50% bonus of 90,000 Alaska miles for a total of $1,773.75. This works out as 1.9 cents apiece. Which is pretty good value and is the cheapest we have seen Alaska miles on offer for a long time.
Maximizing Your Miles
Although purchasing miles for $1,773.75 may seem expensive, there is some tremendous value to be had if you use your miles for the right redemption. A quick look at the Alaska award charts reveals some great value. First-class awards from Europe to Asia with Cathay Pacific will set you back 70,000 miles one way. The cash value of the ticket would be substantially more than the cost of the miles.
From the US things are also pretty lucrative, first class fares from the US to Africa with Korean will set you back 70,000 miles one way, again the cash cost of the ticket would be substantially more than $1,773.75.
Also, from the US you can head over to Australia with Qantas in first class for 70,000 miles. Again purchasing the miles for $1,773.75 would represent a substantial saving on the cash cost of the trip.
One thing to remember with this promotion is according to the terms and conditions it is targeted, and you have to have received an email to be eligible. Although the initial outlay is large, if you have some travel plans coming up with Alaska partners, you may want to crunch some number and see if you can leverage some value from this promotion.
