If you live in the US and visiting the Pyramids of Giza, one of the oldest Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is on your wish list, this might be the right time to hop on a plane and finally make that dream come true. This summer, the German carrier Condor aims to stream North American traffic via its hub in Frankfurt to Sphinx International Airport (SPX).

Condor brings Egypt and its wonders closer to the US

With summer around the corner, airlines' network and fleet management departments are in full swing to design the best strategies to match the demand coming from vacationers. For instance, the German leisure carrier Condor has identified an attractive niche market: Americans longing to discover the wonders of the Ancient World.

To stream North American traffic from the US to the suggestive location of the Pyramids of Giza, Condor will leverage its hub at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) and the recently-opened Sphinx International Airport (SPX), located on the western edge of Egypt's capital city, Cairo. Condor will fly to Sphinx twice weekly via its hub from New York JFK, Los Angeles International (LAX), and Seattle (SEA). The flights from Frankfurt will be operated on Mondays and Thursdays, as per the schedule below.

Between its hub in Frankfurt and Sphinx, Condor will deploy the Airbus A320, while the carrier's flagship, the Airbus A330neo, will fly across the pond. Condor's customers in the US will also benefit from the carrier's interline agreements with Alaska Airlines and JetBlue, offering seamless connections to the US and beyond.

Condor's choice of SPX over Cairo International Airport (CAI) is not casual, with the former being more suitable for a predominantly leisure demand. Arriving US passengers will indeed avoid the hustle and bustle of a busy international airport like Cairo and will conveniently reach some of Egypt's most iconic landmarks, including the capital city.

Condor's US market strategy

Condor investment in the US leisure market is not limited to offering flights to Egypt.

According to the carrier's Director of Sales for the Americas, Mikko Turtiainen, the German airline will continue to invest to further increase connectivity to progressively more summer holiday destinations for US customers. In the meantime, from the US, Condor already flies to a network of more than 100 European destinations, all seamlessly reachable via its Frankfurt hub.

Additionally, the Airbus A330neo, featuring the airline's brand-new business class and premium economy product, will progressively enhance Condor's offer in the US-Europe leisure market. According to ch-aviation, the airline has already received five of the aircraft type, while thirteen more are on their way.

Condor has invited Simple Flying to be on the inaugural flight from Seattle to Frankfurt, operated by one of its brand-new Airbus A330neo, and will publish a flight review, so stay tuned!
