German charter operator, Condor Airlines, joined in the rush to open new routes with its first direct flight from Frankfurt to Tbilisi on May 1. Condor Airlines' flight DE48 left Frankfurt Airport (FRA) at 22:16 on May, and after a 3:51h sector, it arrived at Georgia's Tbilisi International Airport at 04:06 on May 2.

This was Condor's first direct flight from Frankfurt to the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. An Airbus A321-211 registered D-AIAF operated the flight, and after a 1:23h turnaround, it returned to Frankfurt.

Condor will operate scheduled flights from Frankfurt to Tbilisi every Thursday and Sunday, returning the following day. The Airbus A321-211 used on the initial flight carries 220 economy passengers.

According to ch-aviation.com, Condor has 55 aircraft in its fleet. It has 13 Boeing B757, 14 Boeing B767, 15 Airbus A320, 10 Airbus A321 and three Airbus A330. The fleet's average age is 17.8 years, and Condor has 16 Airbus A330neo and two Airbus A330 on order.

Tbilisi is Condor's second destination in the Caucasus region. It also has a twice-weekly flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The 3:44h flight arrives at Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) and returns to Frankfurt after a 1:20h turnaround.

Speaking after the arrival in Tbilisi, United Airports of Georgia head of aviation business development Vako Chilashvili said:

"Condor's entry into the Georgian aviation industry is important, both in terms of direct flights and in terms of significant passenger flows between Tbilisi and Frankfurt."

He also said that Condor is well-known in the US, and passengers from Georgia will be able to fly to the US with Condor.

It's a 4-Star Skytrax rating for Condor

Airlines rating agency Skytrax certifies Condor Airlines as a 4-Star Leisure Airline for the quality of its airport and onboard product and staff service. The rating includes seats, amenities, food and beverages, IFE, cleanliness and cabin and ground staff.

It adds:

"Premium Economy on B767 aircraft is comparable to other airlines. Staff standards are acceptable in Business but subject to inconsistency in Economy. Overall Condor delivers a good 4-star experience."

This summer, from Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Condor is flying to 16 destinations in North America, 12 in the US and four in Canada. With a focus on the leisure traveler, Condor has destinations for all tastes, from the cold of Alaska to the heat of Arizona and everywhere in between.

This year it has added new nonstop services to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. Other notable US destinations include New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, Phoenix and Anchorage. In Canada, Condor heads to Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax and Whitehorse in northwest Canada's Yukon territory.

The Condor is landing in Mallorca

In Europe, Condor is blitzing the Spanish island of Mallorca, with more than 125 weekly connections to Palma de Mallorca.

It flies to Mallorca up to five times a day from Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Munich, Hamburg, Leipzig/Halle, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Friedrichshafen, Zurich and Vienna.

Flights to Mallorca from Vienna, Friedrichshafen, Nuremberg and Vienna are new in the portfolio. Condor has Germany, Austria and Switzerland covered with Mallorca flights from each country this summer.
