Delta Air Lines has introduced five new plant-based and vegetable-packed dishes for Delta One and first class customers on select flights over 900 miles. The fresh vegetarian and plant-based meals onboard will feature unique new dishes and additional locally grown vegetables.

The updated menus will feature products from familiar brands such as the signature Impossible Burger and Black Sheep Foods’ plant-based lamb meatballs. Chief Health Officer at Delta, Dr. Henry Ting, said of the announcement:

“We’ve taken a careful approach to ensuring each customer feels taken care of during their journey on Delta because connecting the world also means caring for those in it – and helping them feel their best no matter where they are.”

The dishes are to initially be served on flights greater than 900 miles and on select routes such as flights departing Seattle or the New York City area.

Fresh new plant-based selections

The additions are set to debut alongside the reintroduction of hot meals on flights 900 miles and greater this spring. Delta One and first class customers on select flights will have the opportunity to order a variety of Impossible™ dishes like a green chili spice rubbed Impossible™ Burger with caramelized onion jam and Manchego cheese.

Passengers traveling in any class will also enjoy Kate’s Real Food bars, a USDA Certified Organic snack that promotes wellbeing by focusing on natural ingredients. Delta has also curated in-flight entertainment with Peloton and Spotify to promote passenger mindfulness and wellbeing.

“Not only are plant-based meats like Impossible™ Burger delicious to eat, but they’re also often better for the environment, using far less land and water to produce. These new options are one part of Delta’s broader mission to promote a wellness-focused travel journey,” said Kristen Manion Taylor, Senior Vice President of In-Flight Service at Delta.
