There’s now even more ways to earn extra points as you’re doing all your holiday shopping and spending! With a large variety of Chase cards you can earn an extra 1X points when you use Google Pay or Apple Pay to pay for your purchases at any retailers that accept them. The bonus is open to all cardholders who received a targeted email. It applies to the following cards:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- Chase Sapphire Preferred
- Chase Freedom Unlimited℠
- Chase Amazon Prime
- Chase Amazon
Look out in your spam folder for that targeted email. It does seem that the offer was limited to just those who received it. Additionally, the email will apply to a certain card and certain mobile wallet, so if you received an email specifically saying that it applied to Google Pay and your Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ card, then you can’t take advantage of the offer with Apple Pay and a Chase Sapphire Preferred card.
There is no limit on how much you can earn with the promotion in the fine print and there’s no registration required. Just go, spend, use Apple Pay or Google Pay and then get your extra 1x points or 1 percent cash back (depending on if you use a cash back or points-earning card).
So what does this mean?
- On the Chase Sapphire Reserve you can get 2X points on all of your spending and 4X on travel and dining purchases
- On the Chase Freedom Unlimited℠ you can get 2.5X everywhere
In other words, this a great time to start using those mobile payments and, if you don’t have one already, set up your Google Pay or Apple Pay account.
Which of these cards should you have in your wallet?
Of course, as we’ve said before, you should likely have one of the Chase Freedom cards and one of the Sapphire cards in your wallet already, so you can allocate your spending to whichever card will get you the most value on a purchase. The Sapphire cards are great for travel bonuses and perks, while the Freedom cards give you awesome value for everyday spending on everything, which you can transfer over to Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you have a Sapphire card as well.
