Airbus has just delivered the 9,000th A320 family aircraft to British low-cost airline easyJet. Breaking the news on their Twitter feed the European aircraft manufacturer said :

“8,997 – 8,998 – 8,999 – 9,000! Proud to deliver the 9,000th #A320 Family aircraft to our friends at @easyJet! We are sure the new #A320neo will feel like home in the airline’s all-Airbus fleet.”

easyJet's newest plane arrived in Luton last Tuesday

easyJet's latest addition to their fleet, an Airbus A320neo registration number G-UZLG, left Airbus’s home field Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (XFW) on Tuesday the 10th of September for London Luton Airport (LTN).

This latest arrival to the easyJet all-Airbus fleet is part of an order for an additional 17 A320neo. Together with 30 A321neos on order takes easyJet to a total of 468 A320 family aircraft. When talking about the order for an additional 17 A320neos last November Airbus Chief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer said:

“This repeat order cements easyJet’s position as the largest European operator of our leading A320 family. We are delighted that our aircraft keep contributing to easyJet’s ongoing success.”

The new easyJet single-aisle A320neo has 186 seats in a single class configuration and is powered by two General Electric- Safran CFM International LEAP engines.

easyJet is the world’s largest single-aisle Airbus operator

The Luton based budget airline currently operates 331 Airbus aircraft and has a further 110 on order making easyJet the world’s largest operator of Airbus single-aisle aircraft. easyJet flies over 1,000 routes to 130 destinations in 31 countries around Europe from 29 bases the largest of which is London Gatwick (LGW).

Since it’s founding in 1995 easyJet has grown year after year carrying some 88.5 million passengers in 2018 making it the second-largest low-cost airline in Europe after Ryanair. The Airbus A320neo family of jets is the best-selling single-aisle aircraft in the marketplace with over 6,200 orders from more than 100 customers since coming to the market in 2010.

The A320neo incorporates all the latest technologies that include a new generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient engines and Sharklet wing-tip devices that also add the aircraft's fuel savings.

easyJet announces six new winter routes

As easyJet continues to grow, the airline has recently announced six new routes for winter 2019/2020.

easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, has today announced that it will launch six new routes for this winter from the UK. Flights are on sale now at easyJet.com.

The new routes are:

  • Manchester to Hurghada (Egypt), Rovaniemi (Lapland) and Verona (Italy)
  • Belfast to Marrakech
  • Bristol to Hurghada
  • Liverpool to Tenerife

When speaking about the new routes easyJet's UK Country Manager, Neil Slaven said:

“We’re delighted to announce seven new routes from the UK for this coming winter, which allow us to offer our customers an even wider range of exciting destinations to visit this year. We remain committed to providing great value services to our customers by offering low fares, a convenient schedule, and more choice when they travel.”
