Launched as a private jet on May 2, 2006, the Embraer Lineage 1000 is a comfortable long-range business jet with seating for 19 passengers. Based on the popular E-190 twin-engine passenger plane, the Embraer Lineage 1000 was given extra fuel tanks in the lower deck cargo area that doubled the jet's range.

Unlike the commercial E-19 airliner that can carry 124 passengers in a single-class configuration with 2-2 seating, the Embraer Lineage 1000 is built for luxury. The aircraft boasts a lavish interior that is divided into five sections. The Brazilian-built plane has an optional master bedroom and bathroom with running water and a walk-in cargo area in the plane's rear.

The Lineage 1000 is larger than many other business jets

Much larger than similarly priced corporate jets like the Global 5000, Falcon 7X, and Gulfstream G600. The aircraft is smaller than the Boeing 737-700 and Airbus ACJ319 but also costs around $30 million less.

Costing around $50 million, the São José dos Campos-built plane received its airworthiness certification from Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) and from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in December 2008. The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) soon followed, certifying the Embraer Lineage 1000 on January 7, 2009.

The first Lineage 1000 went to the UAE

The first Lineage Embraer Lineage 1000 was delivered to Abu Dhabi businessman Aamer Abdul Jalil Al Fahim on May 7, 2009. When speaking about the delivery of the first Embraer Lineage 1000, aviation news website Aero-News Network quotes former Embraer President & CEO Frederico Fleury Curado as saying:

"The Lineage 1000 offers fantastic comfort and performance attributes, exceeding all of its original design assumptions and fostering its great market potential."

In the fall of 2013, Embraer introduced the Lineage 1000E, which had a greater range of 4,600 nautical miles. The plane also featured new cockpit options and an improved inflight entertainment system.

On October 6, 2020, Pakistan announced that it wanted to purchase the Embraer Lineage 1000 to replace its navy P3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft. At the time, it was unclear whether the planes would be bought from Embraer or through a third party. The thought was that used Lineage 1000s could be picked up at a discount due to the global COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Buyers were looking for smaller and more efficient jets

The same year Embraer noticed that private buyers were more interested in smaller business jets like the Global 6000s, Falcon 7Xs and G550 and not converted airliners. Because of this, Embraer announced that it was stopping sales of the Lineage 1000 in August 2020.
