If you're still not convinced that the video of an Airbus A380 flying past the Burj Khalifa is real, perhaps a video released on LinkedIn last week will convince you. The video shows the stunt being filmed from the point of view of a team in a hovering helicopter.

When it comes to advertising stunts, Emirates is no stranger. After all, What other airline has flown an Airbus A380 alongside people wearing jet packs? Late last year, the airline launched an advertising campaign with a stunt woman standing on top of the world's tallest building. The campaign was so successful that the airline wanted to take it to the next level.

How was the stunt filmed?

If you were wondering how the stunt was filmed, we now have the answer thanks to Gerry Blaksley, who shared a behind-the-scenes video of the feat on LinkedIn last week.

The video starts by showing a camera operator sitting in the middle of the helicopter. It then pans around to the front of the aircraft before zooming in to show the professional skydiving instructor standing atop the tower with a blank board, indicating that the words were added on after the stunt was filmed. Finally, the giant of the skies is seen whizzing past the Burj Khalifa sporting the Emirates Expo 2020 livery.

The helicopter used

The stunt was filmed from a helicopter, allowing the camera to remain reasonably stationary. The video shows that the aircraft used was registered as A6-ALX. While not much information seems to be freely available about the helicopter, we do know that it is a Bell 212 owned by Aerogulf Services.

Alongside the work with Jetman Dubai, Aerogulf Services seems to get involved with many out-of-the-ordinary projects across Dubai. 11 months ago, the company posted a video of it delivering a piano to the helipad on top of the Burj Al Arab for a sponsored event.

The final product

While the stunt was filmed in October, Emirates didn't release its latest advertising campaign until a month ago, showing the lead time from filming the shoot to releasing the advertisement. We previously saw how much work goes into making such a shoot. The airline revealed that the stunt took months of preparation with many agencies involved. Everything was planned down the inch from where the A380 would be to what time the flight would take place to avoid disruption. The final result is pretty impressive:
