It’s that time of the week again, and our friends at Mighty Travels have shared some awesome deals for long-haul business class comfort that we can’t wait to tell you about. With the transatlantic market hotting up again, it’s not easy to find affordable business class fares, but Mighty Travels has found not one but three different options for the intrepid traveler, all under $1,500.

Our featured deals this week are from TAP Portugal, an airline with a super reputation for food and service, not to mention the first to fly the incredible Airbus A330neo. Plus, we’ve got a surprise bonus deal for our readers – still transatlantic but let’s just say a bit further south.

New York to London in lie-flat business for just $1,300

If you’re in the market for a fall getaway, TAP Air Portugal has an incredible offer on its one-stop itinerary between New York’s John F Kennedy Airport and London Heathrow. The transatlantic portion is in lie-flat comfort, all for just over $1,300.

Departing on November 8th, the flight overnights from JFK to Lisbon on the airline’s Airbus A321neo. Panic not about this narrowbody option, as the A321s have fully flat business class seats. In fact, you can enjoy a good deal of smugness about this being a trip on a smaller plane, as the CO2 emissions for the flight are around 50% lower than the typical TATL service.

Arrival in Lisbon sees passengers with a five-hour layover, just enough time to grab some pastel de natas or other Portuguese delicacies before heading off on the short hop up to London. Returning on November 22nd, this trip will give passengers a good two weeks in the UK’s capital to catch up with family and friends, or to soak up the culture in this historic city.

Toronto to Lisbon in business this month for $1,500

For those in the north of North America, and wanting to travel somewhat sooner, TAP has a cracking transatlantic offer for departures out of Toronto also. Departing on May 21st for a trip of just over a week, this will see passengers in lie-flat comfort all the way to Lisbon on a nonstop itinerary. Total cost? Just over $1,500 round trip, which is very competitive in this market.

The departure from Toronto Pearson is at a very civilized 17:20 on the Saturday, flying overnight with TAP’s stunning Airbus A330-900. As the first to fly the A330neo, this is the firm flagship of the TAP fleet, complete with Airspace cabin, fully flat seats throughout, and a state-of-the-art personalized entertainment system.

Once in Lisbon, Europe is your oyster. While there’s plenty to do in the city and surrounds for a week of leisure, the airport is also served by pretty much all the European low-costs, including Vueling, easyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz. These budget-friendly airlines will pop you over to pretty much anywhere in the continent for less than a night on the town.

The return flight is on Sunday, May 29th, leading from LIS at 17:45. This time it’s the capable A321neo providing the transport, but still with the same lie-flat comfort and space in business class. Overall, it’s a bit of a bargain for a trip to one of Europe’s most popular cities before the month is even out.

Dublin to San Francisco in lie-flat business for under $1,300 this November

For a trip in the other direction, this bargain transatlantic hop to the West Coast is going to be very hard to beat. Flying with TAP Portugal, passengers can make their way from Dublin to San Francisco this November for under $1,300.

Departing Dublin on November 17th, an Embraer will ferry passengers to TAP’s home in Lisbon to catch the connecting flight. Again, it’s stunning A330neo will provide the wings for the long-haul out to SFO, a total of 13 hours in lie-flat comfort. The return is on November 29th using the same transportation route. Both legs have a comfortable two-to-three-hour layover in Lisbon.

While the seat is enough reason alone to jump at these bargain flights, TAP also has an incredible reputation for delicious food onboard. With menus from Portugal, their food and beverage selection focuses on local produce and traditional desserts, paired with Portuguese wines and served on Portuguese porcelain dinnerware. Business class passengers can also pre-book specialist meals to ensure they enjoy precisely what they wish.

Bonus deal – London to Rio de Janeiro in business for under $1,500

This one isn’t TAP, but is certainly a route to tapping into amazing savings! Operated by LATAM, this flight departs on November 1st for a three-week stay in Rio de Janeiro. Out of Heathrow, LATAM’s Boeing 777 will offer the seat on the way down to Sao Paulo, leaving at 20:45 for an 11-hour overnight flight.

LATAM started updating its 777-300ER business class in July 2019, and now the entire fleet features the new premium standard. All in, there are 38 open suites in business, with a 1-2-1 layout and a modified version of the Thompson Vantage XL, a pretty solid and modern business class solution. It’s the same product that forms the basis of Delta One on the A350, a product highly acclaimed among premium travel gurus.

In Sao Paulo, there’s enough time to leave the airport and go for an explore. If you’re concerned about getting lost, plenty of companies offer layover guided tours to allow you to maximize your time with minimal risk. Otherwise, there are plenty of connections provided by bus, metro, and taxi to get you to an attraction in the city.

The onward flight is on a LATAM A320, which doesn’t have business class seating. However, LATAM’s premium economy product, launched in 2020, is pretty much in line with Euro business or domestic US business class. The middle seat is blocked, the soft product improved, and priority boarding is standard. For the one-hour hop up to Rio, this is an ample level of comfort for anyone.

Return flights follow the same pattern, with the flight leaving GIG on November 23rd. The total roundtrip price, checked today, is just $1,445, which is pretty darn good for over 12 hours of premium flying.
