US low-cost airline Frontier is attempting to get more passengers back in the sky by offering a 100% discount on flights. Although passengers will still have to pay taxes and fees, the airline fare itself is completely free of charge. The offer is only valid until midnight tonight (Eastern time) but is available for travel through to February next year.

48 hour free flights

For a very limited time, passengers can fly Frontier Airlines for (almost) free. In an attempt to stimulate the market at this uncertain time, the airline has released free seats on its planes for 48 hours only.

Although there is no restriction on who can book the flights, the airline is aiming the offer at small business people who may not have been able to meet with their clients due to the current situation.

In a release carried by BizJournals, Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said,

“In business, nothing can replace the value of in-person interaction, and, when conducted responsibly, a face-to-face meeting is still the best way to build relationships and seal the deal. At Frontier, we’re offering our own form of stimulus for small business owners or anyone wanting to take advantage of our unique 100% off deal on flights to both large and small destinations across the country.”

Since the start of the pandemic, Frontier has taken steps to ensure the safety of its passengers. These include mandatory mask-wearing, temperature checks before boarding, and deep cleaning of aircraft, including electrostatic fogging. For a short while, it also offered to sell passengers an empty middle seat but had to scrap that idea after a considerable backlash from fliers.

How to get a free flight

If you’re keen to grab a seat for almost free on a Frontier Airlines flight, you need to book by 23:59 tonight (eastern time) in order to qualify. The flight must be a domestic, round trip and on a nonstop itinerary.

Passengers need to make a booking at FlyFrontier.com and on one of the eligible routes only. There are too many eligible routes to list here, but a full list is available on the website. The flight must be taken before February 3rd, 2021.

At the point of checkout, the promotional code TAKEOFF should be entered into the promo code box. This will discount the cost of the flight, but not of the taxes and fees. They are still payable.

There are some blackout dates and times, however. Again, a full list is available on the Frontier website, but they include popular holiday dates as well as all Fridays and Sundays. For example, the airline has blocked out September 7th and 8tth, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Some users have responded on Twitter, saying they’ve had trouble trying to get the code to work. For this reason, it’s a good idea to thoroughly read the conditions and make sure you’re booking an eligible flight. Your booking cannot be in fare classes Y, B, or H and must be an individual booking, not for a group.

Other services such as baggage and seat selection are payable, and full payment must be made at the time of booking.
