Frontier Airlines has announced that it will open 10 new non-stop routes from Phoenix to destinations across the US. The airline will open up a new crew base in Phoenix to serve these routes, employing over 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants. Frontier will open the routes between November 2022 and January 2023. By expanding its influence in one of America's fastest-growing cities, the airline hopes to capitalize on the surge in air travel demand. The routes are intended to serve both leisure and business travelers. It will offer ultra-low fares to many of these destinations, with rates as low as $19 for one-way tickets.

Westward expansion

On August 26th, Frontier Airlines announced that it would operate 10 new routes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). The routes come as a part of the airlines' planned expansion into one of the fastest-growing cities in America. The 10 new routes will bring the total number of destinations. Frontier serves from Phoenix to 22. It plans to open a crew domicile in Phoenix that will serve these routes. It anticipates that it will need to base 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants in Phoenix when it opens these routes.

The Denver-based airline has capitalized on the travel demand found across the mountainous American west. It anticipates that these new routes will yield similar results to the flights it already flies out of Phoenix. The airline will celebrate the new routes by offering ultra-low rates starting at $19 a ticket for the inaugural flights. The flights must be booked on Frontiers website by 23:59 on August 30th to get the reduced fare. The excitement shared by Frontier executives for these new routes was illustrated by Frontier Airlines President and CEO Barry Biffle. Biffle stated,

"We're thrilled to offer these new routes serving some of the most popular destinations in America. Our commitment to future growth at PHX is strong as we prepare to open our new crew base in November and introduce this expanded array of convenient, affordable flight options for Phoenix-area consumers."

The Mayor of Phoenix, Kate Gallego, stated that the city is grateful for Frontier's contributions to the community. Gallego said,

"We are grateful for the commitment that Frontier has made with its crew base and the employment opportunities it provides. More people will discover why Phoenix is a great vacation destination, business hub, and place to call home."
