In a long-standing partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines hosted and witnessed an unforgettable walk down the aisle for couple Erin Bright and Jeff Wareing. Wedding bells chimed at 30,000 feet in the air as the couple was officially wedded as husband and wife while the flight was en route to Las Vegas.

A one-of-a-kind wedding

The walk down the aisle began from the aerobridge before the aircraft departed from Denver International Airport, from where the then about-to-be-wedded couple had originated. Then, once the flight took off and reached cruising altitude en route to Las Vegas, the one-of-a-kind wedding began as the couple walked down the aircraft aisle toward the forward section of the cabin.

The couple exchanged their wedding vows, which were officiated by a female Frontier Airlines pilot who was not working as a crew member aboard the celebratory flight. While the couple themselves and the airline crew knew that a wedding was about to take place in the sky, the remaining passengers onboard were completely unsuspecting.

Regardless, it was all a pleasant surprise as everyone chimed in on the wedding excitement, making the entire flight full of cheerful celebration. And besides witnessing a couple becoming husband and wife, the unsuspecting passengers were also treated with complimentary refreshments.

Upon touching down at Harry Reid International Airport, the newly wedded couple headed to their official ceremony at the Chapel of the Flowers.

Competing for the ultimate wedding experience

Albeit it's not every day that a wedding happens at 30,000 feet above ground, or for airlines to generally even host a wedding, the newlywed couple weren't on the Frontier Airlines flight to Las Vegas by chance. The couple was the winner of the Wedding in the Sky VIP Las Vegas Experience, a competition that has been hosted by Frontier Airlines in partnership with the LVCVA.

The competition not only awards the lucky winners with a unique wedding experience and two round-trip tickets, but it also includes a memorable and luxurious honeymoon experience in Las Vegas. To enter the competition, whenever the campaign was live, interested couple applicants simply had to upload and send the low-cost carrier a one-minute video of themselves summarizing their love story and why they wished to get married in the sky.

As Frontier Airlines emphasizes, it wants to see the couples' personalities in a fun and creative way. And there would also be no discrimination within the competition, as the budget carrier encourages all couples, including same-sex couples, to participate. Eventually, all participating couples will gain their chances to win through a public voting system, where their stories will be displayed and, hopefully, capture enough of the public's hearts.

The couple with the highest number of votes will win the entire competition, but Frontier Airlines added a twist to make the situation a sure win-win for everyone. Since the winners are decided through a public voting system, the low-cost carrier also ensured that every voter will be entered into their own giveaway, whereby a lucky voter will get the chance to win a year of free flights with the airline.

Bottom line

Known as the 'Marriage Capital of the World', it's easy to see why Frontier Airlines, with more than 30 non-stop routes to Las Vegas, would host such a unique competition for couples to earn the chance of saying 'I Do' and be united at 30,000 feet in the skies. It's also smart on the budget carrier's part to entice the public to vote to earn themselves a possible year of free flights.

Hopefully, more couples will eventually get their chance at winning themselves a wedding in the skies when Frontier Airlines continues the competition in the future. And here's to a blissful and everlasting marriage for Erin and Jeff!
