However, you can transfer you Marriott points to JAL at a ratio of 3:1, although the transfer does take some time. Transferring points from your Marriott stays and for spending on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card can help you get closer to a redemption on Qatar’s Qsuites.
One thing to remember is that Marriott has an inbuilt transfer bonus if you transfer a substantial number of points. For every 60,000 points, you transfer you will receive a 5,000-mile bonus. Every block of 60,000 Marriott points would yield 25,000 JAL miles. To hit the required 80,000 miles needed for an award from New York to Doha you would need to transfer 195,000 Marriott points.
American Airlines Miles
Considering how cheaply you can pick up AA miles for, there is some good value to be had when redeeming AA miles for Qatar QSuite flights. According to the AA award chart, one-way awards between the US and the Middle East will set you back 70,000 miles in business class while one-way awards to the south pacific from the middle east to the South Pacific will set you back 80,000 AA miles in business class one way.
AA offers an interesting option if you are looking for a one-way Award from the US (east coast) to Doha versus a round trip award. Due to the way JAL prices its awards, if you are looking for a one-way award AA is the cheapest option, if you are looking for a roundtrip award, you are better off going with JAL.
