The Spanish flag carrier Iberia has announced it will launch a new route connecting Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD) with Amman International Airport (AMM). This route will be served next month, and Amman will become Iberia’s 138th destination worldwide.

A brand new route

On Thursday, Iberia announced its plans to open a new route connecting Spain with Jordan. This service between Madrid and Amman will be operated conjointly with SamaTravel, a Spanish tour operator, who will charter Iberia’s flights to the Middle East kingdom.

Iberia will operate the departures on a weekly basis, having one flight per week on Thursday. Nonetheless, Iberia will only fly to Amman twice a month; the other two flights per month will be flown to Cairo International Airport (CAI) in Egypt. These schedules have been adapted to the new tours launched by SammaTravel; the tours offer travelers the possibility to travel to historical places such as Petra and the Giza pyramid complex in one single trip. Antonio Linares, Iberia's Sales Director for Spain, said,

"We are very pleased to announce extending our agreement with SamaTravel. It is the first time in our history that we will fly to Jordan, which will become our 138th destination. In addition, the combination of flights with Cairo will allow us to visit two wonders of the world, ancient and modern, in the same trip, with a single package. A differential product of great quality, which we believe will be very well received by customers".
