Iberia (IB) has been acknowledged as the 'world's most punctual airline,' as reported by Cirium's airline's on-time performance report. This follows Iberia being nominated as Europe's most punctual airline for 2022.
The airline's operations totaled 13,327 movements for January this year, and within this, 86.8% of flights arrived on time. The criteria for the analysis is for the world's top 10% of airlines based on available seat kilometers (ASK) and must operate in at least three regions.
As earlier reported by Simple Flying, airlines in Spain are almost at 100% of pre-covid capacity, and Iberia's CEO, Javier Sánchez-Prieto acknowledged the carrier's employees play a big part in delivering reliable on-time performance in a booming travel market:
"Starting the year as the world's most punctual airline is the greatest sign that the Iberia team is doing an excellent job, that everyone at Iberia is working in the same direction. Our commitment to our customers is to offer them the best possible service, and punctuality is one of their most valued factors. I would like to thank our employees for their commitment and our customers for their trust,"

Iberia aims for 40% of women in management
As announced on March 7th, Iberia declared its plans to strive for 40% of management positions to be held by women by 2025. The airline statistics show that the figure is at 35%, a vast improvement from 18% in 2018.
This target is planned as part of the airline's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan, which was re-launched post-pandemic, and in line with the overall inclusion target by IAG. Compared with the entire workforce currently at Iberia, 38% of positions are held by women, where the vast majority of women work as cabin crew, while only a minority work in roles of pilots, aeronautical engineers, and aircraft maintenance technicians.
Focuses on respecting gender, generational, cultural (nationalities), LGTBIQ+, and disability groups are critical components of Iberia's new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan. With high importance on gender equality, the airline says it is developing internal and external initiatives to give visibility to its female talent and promote the presence of women at all levels and roles within the company.
