Throughout June, July, and August, Jet2holidays is offering free fares to select children on board their flights. Resulting in thousands of expense-free seats originating at ten different UK bases this summer.

Free flights

On June 24th, 2022, Jet2holidays released their exciting new announcement that every flight from now through the end of August will have a free seat on board designated for a child traveling for vacation. These seats are first come, first served, meaning that anyone who wishes to get their hands on one will have to act soon. It is important to note that this new fare only applies when a child is traveling with two adults who both paid full price for their tickets.

Jet2holidays launched this campaign in hopes of securing additional passengers. Specifically, families traveling for vacation. The CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Steve Heapy said,

“We want our independent travel agency partners to be at the heart of our summer plans this year, which is why we are telling them all about this fantastic new campaign. This is our biggest ever giveaway of Free Child Places and although there are thousands of places available, we know that they will be enormously popular with families and family groups looking to get away so people will need to act quick to secure one. With more seats on sale than ever this summer, we are already looking ahead to a busy and successful summer, and this campaign will only help us deliver that.”

With this new fare offering the airline looks to not only make a profit but secure a larger sector of the aviation market for years to come. By filling more flights all aspects of the company will benefit. Airlines must secure a segment of the market to survive the competitive environment that is the airline industry. Jet2holidays has done just that by specifically targeting passengers traveling for leisure.

The Market

The demand for air travel is through the roof. Amid this great demand exists supply deficits. Airlines all around the globe have been canceling flights left and right this year. There are countless reasons behind the discrepancies, but what keeps coming up is staff shortages.

This is where Jet2holidays is unique and hopes to pull ahead. The airline proudly stated in their release that,

"Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have not cancelled any flights due to staff shortages and have continued to receive positive feedback from customers and independent travel agents."

The airline attributes its success in preventing staff shortages to efforts that were made before the shortages to secure sufficient staff. It further elaborated,

"Jet2.com and Jet2holidays took action to recruit well ahead of the bounce back and as such have thousands of dedicated colleagues, including a very visible uniformed presence (referred to as the Red Team) in UK airports as well as in main overseas airports and in resorts. This team have been working tirelessly to make sure customers get to enjoy their well-deserved holidays."

These efforts give the airline the advantage that they need to further carve out their little segment of the travel market. Passengers tend to be rubbed the wrong way when their flight is canceled or delayed, regardless of the cause. When an airline manages to have very low cancelation rates, this helps to both retain current customers and attract new ones.
