JetBlue has teamed up with FLYR Labs to enhance the airline’s revenue optimization capabilities. FLYR is one of the industry’s leading innovators in artificial intelligence-driven forecasting and pricing, and its 'The Revenue Operating System' has already started to show results.
With aviation constantly being impacted by a variety of external factors, revenue optimization is a key activity for airlines, and the industry as a whole is renowned for its highly advanced optimization systems.
Revenue optimization
Put simply, revenue optimization uses real-time data to ensure that prices are reflective of a variety of factors, one of the main ones being demand. Increased demand for flights during holiday periods and significant sporting events, for example, means that ticket prices tend to be higher around these dates.
But there is much more to revenue optimization than just looking at demand, and JetBlue is now taking its revenue management processes to the next level, making use of FLYR Lab’s 'The Revenue Operating System'. The state-of-the-art offering will enable JetBlue to develop its optimization capabilities with accurate, real-time decision intelligence and analytics.
Head of revenue and planning at JetBlue, Dave Clark, said,
"We’re known for disrupting our industry and the legacy processes that came before us. Collaborating with FLYR, a pioneer of AI-driven revenue optimization software, is another example of how we can amplify the ‘JetBlue Effect’ - keeping fares as competitive as possible without compromising the customer experience - an ethos that is mirrored in FLYR’s partnership approach."
The Revenue Operating System by FLYR Labs
The Revenue Operating System makes use of deep-learning technology, a cutting-edge form of AI, to provide airlines and other businesses with accurate forecasting and insights. According to FLYR Labs, this in turn allows users to improve their revenue performance and offer a more efficient experience for their customers.
Greater revenue uplift and reduced forecasting errors are just two of the advantages of The Revenue Operating System that JetBlue may benefit from, as outlined by FLYR Labs below:
Speaking about the company’s partnership with JetBlue, the seventh-largest airline in North America by passengers carried, the CEO of FLYR Labs, Alex Mans, said,
“JetBlue already has incredible market influence. By working with FLYR, JetBlue’s analysts will be most aware of revenue opportunities earlier than ever before. Our AI capabilities will accelerate JetBlue’s advantage by understanding and applying network-wide context, enabling fast and targeted route or pricing decisions. The Revenue Operating System can positively influence all critical commercial teams of an airline, such as marketing, cargo, scheduling, network planning, and ancillaries, which will further cement JetBlue’s reputation and deliver even more benefits to travelers in every market it operates.”
While much of the media attention on JetBlue is currently focused on its merger bid with Spirit Airlines, there is a lot going on behind the scenes too, such as investment in technology, to ensure that the airline remains competitive into the future.
