According to data from Cirium, US carrier JetBlue (B6) is looking to axe over two thousand flights this summer as the airline cuts or reduces services on several routes.

First on the chopping block is the airline's direct route between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), which will be axed in June. Atlanta to New York also does not fair well, with a severe reduction in frequency over the summer.

New York will see two of the three routes suspended for summer. In addition to Washington, its regional flight to Worcester Regional Airport (ORH) will be suspended from July.

With the airlines move, over 300,000 seats will be missing this summer, which has been broken down below, highlighting its most considerable reductions and listing the top five:

June

June will see a total of 597 flights cut, representing 81,780 seats. The significant cuts will be seen between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) - with its route canceled, representing 48 flights removed and 4,800 seats, and JFK and Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) representing 50 flights cut and 6,116 seats.

JFK continues to feel the pinch, with 25 flights cut to Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Miami International Airport (MIA), and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), representing a loss of over 9,500 seats combined.

July

July will see a total of 762 flights cut, representing 99,232 seats. JFK continues to be in the headlines here, with 93 flights missing between JFK and Washington National, representing a loss of 9,300 seats. Followed by Atlanta again, missing 62 flights and 6,200 potential passengers. The next three are between JFK and Burlington International Airport (BTV) 36 flights with 3,600 seats. JFK and Worcester Regional Airport (ORH), where the route is canceled, representing 31 flights and over 5,000 seats.

August

August will see a total of 698 flights cut, representing 92,002 seats. JFK and Washington National will remain in the headlines, missing 93 flights and over 9,000 seats, with Atlanta, Burlington, and Austin continuing with missed opportunities for over 15,000 potential travelers.

A new reduction for August will see New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Bradley International Airport (BDL) cut 31 flights representing 5,022 seats.

However, for August, it's not all doom and gloom. For example, JetBlue plans on adding 62 additional flights between Boston and JFK and 31 flights between Boston and Raleigh, in addition to many others across the network.

September

Finally, things start to look slightly brighter from September, with the carrier having fewer reductions. September will see a total of 356 flights cut, representing 44,924 seats. JetBlue's JFK to Washington National remains on top, with 45 cut flights and 4,500 passengers missing, followed by the carrier's suspended JFK to Worcester route with 30 flights out of action.

JFK to Miami steps in at number three, with 15 flights axed, along JFK to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Syracuse Hancock (SYR), which will see over 1,500 seats out of action. The positive news for JetBlue passengers is that September will see an overall increase in routes between JFK and Boston, Orlando and Worcester will resume, and over 9,600 one-way seats will be added between Tampa and Raleigh direct to Puerto Rico.
