JetSMART Peru’s connectivity

The Peruvian branch of JetSMART began commercial services last year. It became the third domestic airline opened by JetSMART, a Chilean company backed by IndiGo Partners and American Airlines. In the future, it could also open a new operator in Colombia.

The airline currently operates only one international route flying between Lima and Santiago de Chile five times weekly. Domestically, it runs about 177 weekly flights on 25 routes. Nonetheless, the airline is looking to expand its operations this year. JetSMART Peru’s general manager Francesca Luna told Correo, a Peruvian newspaper,

“We will create better travel opportunities and bring aviation closer to all people. (...) We seek to increase connectivity within South America. By 2023 we plan to operate more international routes from Peru as part of our growth plan. We have taken the first step by launching the Lima-Santiago route, which is served by a Peruvian crew. We aim to increase the flow of 82,000 passengers per year between these destinations.”

JetSMART currently has a fleet of 24 aircraft and expects to receive 100 in the next few years. It has one of the largest unfilled orders with Airbus in the Latin American region. The Peruvian branch currently operates with a fleet of three Airbus A320neos.
