China’s Juneyoa Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo aircraft. The narrowbody will join the airline’s existing Airbus A320 family fleet which is currently made up of some 68 aircraft, according to the manufacturer.
At the weekend, Juneyao Airlines operated its first flight with the Airbus A320neo, having received the aircraft from Airbus’ Chinese final assembly line a few days earlier. The aircraft is already being put to good use having operated around 20 flights in four days.
The aircraft is fitted with purple Recaro seating in both business class and economy. It comes at a time when Juneyao Airlines is looking to expand its international offering. The airline recently announced flights to Manchester, Keflavik, and Dublin as extensions of its Helsinki service.
The aircraft’s construction journey
The first Airbus A320neo to be delivered to Juneyao was constructed at Airbus’ final assembly line in China. The facility is located in Tianjin to the northeast of China. Here, Airbus components are assembled, just like in Hamburg, providing identical aircraft to those which are constructed at Airbus’ home in Europe.
Following its construction, Juneyao’s first Airbus A320neo took its first flight back on the 25th of October, according to AIB Family. Since then, the aircraft made an additional flight on October 31st, before two flights in November on the 6th and 12th. The aircraft then stayed on the ground for almost a month before its fifth test flight on the 4th of December.
On the 10th of December, last Tuesday, the Airbus A320neo completed its acceptance flight in Tianjin. Clearly this went well, as three days later, the aircraft was delivered to Juneyao in Shanghai. This was on the 13th of December (Friday), after which it entered service on Sunday the 15th of December.
The aircraft’s interior
The Airbus A320neo’s interior is entirely supplied by Recaro. The aircraft is fitted out with bright purple seating throughout the economy cabin. This contains the BL3530 SWIFT seat. Meanwhile, in the business class cabin, the airline is acting as the launch customer for Recaro’s CL4710 seat in the APAC region.
Speaking of the interior, Wang Junjin, Chairman of Juneyao Air, said,
“We are thrilled to be the first airline in the region to debut the Recaro CL4710 seat to our passengers. Our discerning flyers can look forward to a top-of-the-range business class seat that offers them greater comfort and premium features”.
He went on to add,
“The customized design will support Juneyao Air branding, while the comfort features Recaro is renowned for ensures an excellent passenger experience.”
