KLM Las Vegas flights are due to begin soon, as the airline is continuing to expand its network of routes. The airline is looking to launch the flights to Las Vegas starting in the summer of 2019.

Las Vegas, known as the entertainment capital of the world, is a city of over 600,000. Many people travel from across the globe to visit the city, which is famous for its shows and casinos. The city sees many famous names performing across the year from Elton John to Britney Spears. The city also acts as the home of world-renowned resorts including Caesars Palace and Aria.

McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas is also home to a secret government airline. Janet Air, based in a private terminal, carries members of government staff with meaty security clearances to a number of top-secret sites across the West Coast, including Area 51.

Why Vegas For KLM?

Las Vegas has the nickname Sin City, which it gained from its fairly lax laws on adult entertainment. This makes it a popular destination for holidaymakers who are anxious to try something a little different. Namely gambling in one of the city's many casinos. The city is frequented by all sorts such as stag parties. After all, who could forget the hilarious hangover movie based around just that?

The destination is popular for inbound travel with two operators flying direct from London. These are British Airways who operate two flights a day, and Virgin Atlantic who operate one. Clearly, outbound travel from Vegas is not as popular, as no US carriers operate direct flights from between Las Vegas and London. With this in mind, KLM will be focusing on taking passengers to Las Vegas and bringing them back. Any American passengers will be a bonus for the Dutch carrier.

Speaking of the new destination Pieter Elbers, KLM President and CEO said: "Las Vegas will become KLM’s 18th North Atlantic destination to be served directly. Including Las Vegas as KLM’s latest destination will offer our customers even more flight connections to and from the west coast of America."

Schedule

KLM will operate daily flights between Amsterdam's Schipol Airport, and Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport. Operated by a B787 aircraft, the outbound flight (KL0635), is scheduled to take 10 hours and 45 minutes. This departs at 12:30, arriving at 14:15 The return flight, KL0636, takes advantage of the prevailing winds over the Atlantic. As such it is scheduled to take just 10 hours departing at 16:05, and landing the next day at 11:05.

KLM offers a number of benefits for their B787 passengers. These include WiFi, Power, and all of the usual amenities in economy with a 3-3-3 layout. Passengers who pay the €2,500+ for a seat in business class will be allocated a seat which is part of a 1-2-1 layout. This seat will turn into a lie-flat bed. Additionally, business passengers will receive all of the previously mentioned amenities for economy such as the WiFi and power. KLM operates a two-class airline, meaning passengers get to pick between one class or the other, with no in-between.
