Unique business class airline La Compagnie is set to resume operations this month with three flights to New York. The French airline temporarily ceased operations in March due to the global downturn and has yet to resume regular flights.

Three holiday flights

The airline will offer three return flights from Paris Orly to New York Newark to capture some of the increased holiday travel. Two flights will take place in December; the first will leave France on the 19th, returning the next day. The second will leave on the 26th, returning on the 27th, and the final flight will operate on the 2nd of January 2021, returning on the third.

The flights start from $750 one way. Flight BO100 departs Paris at 10.30 and arrives in New York at 13.10. The return flight leaves New York at 19.30 and arrives in Paris at 08.50 a day later. La Compagnie will use its Airbus A321neo, which has 76 business class seats.

The A321neo joined La Compagnie’s fleet last year as an upgrade from its aging Boeing 757. The lie-flat beds in the newer aircraft offer more privacy than the older version. Not to mention all the upgrades that come with new technology, including a quieter cabin.

La Compagnie’s schedule

These flights to New York are a sure sign the airline is looking to get back to a more regular schedule. Throughout September and October, the airline only operated a few specific charter flights in Australia and Africa. French media outlet La Tribune reports that the airline is targeting April 1st, 2021 as a provisional date for a return to a regular schedule.

By a regular schedule, it’s likely the airline will resume its flights from southern city Nice to New York as well as a potential new European city. The airline hasn’t yet revealed what this new route could be. While travel restrictions will, of course, dictate where the airline can fly, the airline is well-positioned to take advantage of a post-pandemic market. The business-class offering gives passengers more personal space, less contact with others and is perfect for leisure travelers.

Flying with La Compagnie

Although La Compagnie offers only business class seats, it isn’t exactly the same kind of business class you’d get from other carriers.  Firstly, prices are generally lower than if you flew business class with an airline like British Airways. By keeping costs down and offering a very select service on a few routes, La Compagnie can offer competitive pricing.

Onboard, the airline offers an amenities kit including products by luxury French brand Caudalie. In addition, the WiFi is complimentary. When it comes to onboard dining, menus were created with French Michelin-starred chef Christophe Langree. Even cabin crew uniforms were designed with a French flair by fashion house Vicomte A.

So long as travel restrictions continue to ease over the coming months, La Compagnie looks set to resume its network and continue growing. Its unique offering is distinctly French and is certainly appealing to many leisure travelers. With passengers wanting more space and privacy, La Compagnie’s unique offering could be a triumph in a post-pandemic world.
