Lufthansa Technik has unveiled a brand new VIP cabin concept for the forthcoming Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 777-9. The reveal was made in advance of the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, which begins tomorrow in Geneva, Switzerland. The cabin design prioritizes versatility and configurations that take full advantage of the vast space available on the widebody jet.

A multifunctional design

The cabin of the Boeing Buisness Jet 777-9 (formerly referred to as the BBJ 777X aircraft) showcases an impressive collection of stunning business and VIP-friendly features. Design features of the aircraft include a large majlis (sitting room) with a design that flows throughout the entire cabin and incorporates traditional elements of Middle Eastern cultural heritage with a contemporary twist. Jan Grube, Sales Director in VIP & Special Mission Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik, revealed the company's objective with the new aircraft design:

“We are thrilled to unveil first insights into this new VIP cabin design for the BBJ 777-9. Our team’s mission was to create a cabin that is both functional and beautiful, while also meeting the unique needs of our VIP clients in the Middle East. We are confident that this cabin design will set a new standard for VIP aviation, and we look forward to bringing it to market.”

Additional design details will be revealed later in the year, but some features have already been identified. The front of the aircraft consisted of a "VVIP" (Very-Very Important Person) section, according to a release from the airline. This area includes an expandable and highly functional private bedroom for said guests. Further down the aircraft, a spacious office and reception area divide the private section from the communal areas of the aircraft.

A unique light and window shade concept will be implemented throughout the cabin. The feature is designed to provide a more cozy experience on the widebody aircraft.

Creating the new cabin

The design team at the company's center in Hamburg worked with the customer to design the cabin from scratch. Lufthansa Technik's designers worked closely with the still-undisclosed customer to create a unique and functional space that best fits the customer's needs and tastes.

Assisting in the cabin design project was Boeing. The aircraft manufacturer provided the design team with the native aircraft data and measurements. This particular cabin is the first of its kind to be developed using data this detailed, which will ensure the dimensions and space shown are 100% accurate.

The final renders of the cabin will be revealed as the year goes on and can be seen at Lufthansa Technik's booth at this year's EBACE. Lufthansa Technik recently released several renderings of an Airbus ACJ320neo cabin and has delivered the second of three VIP Airbus A350s to the German Government.
