August 19th is a special day for aviation enthusiasts. It’s the official birthday of aviation giant Orville Wright – one half of The Wright Brothers, the American aviation pioneers credited with inventing, building, and flying the world’s first successful motor-operated airplane. The day was officially named ‘National Aviation Day’ by Franklin D Roosevelt in 1939, and the United States, along with frequent flyers and aeronautic lovers from all around the world, have celebrated the development of aviation on this day every year since.

Win Free Flying Lessons

To mark this auspicious day, Simple Flying has partnered with App In The Air to find the next Wright Brothers of the new millennium. The all-in-one travel app, loved by more than six million frequent flyers around the world, has launched a campaign to turn today’s aviation enthusiasts into tomorrow’s pilots with the opportunity to win free flying lessons.

Over the next month, AvGeeks from across the UK and the US can enter the contest for a chance to win a one-on-one flight lesson with a professional pilot in their home county.

Entry is simple

All you need to do is download the app and tell the App in the Air team what you love most about aviation. The competition closes on 19 September 2021 and the lucky winner will be chosen at random.

That’s not all... entrants who happen to have the surname ‘Wright’ will get an additional bonus entry!
