Back in 2018 Simple Flying reported that Aer Lingus was undergoing a total rebrand. This was due to occur around the same time as the airline was set to receive new A321neo jets. Now, Aer Lingus has released more details of their rebrand, including the new livery that has been hotly anticipated.
The new rebrand will reportedly style Aer Lingus as a modern, yet contemporary Irish brand. All in all, the brand change sees a new logo, livery, and uniform being applied to the fleet. In fact, it has been more than 20 years since Aer Lingus last received a rebrand
Retaining The Shamrock
The new brand will retain the airline’s icon shamrock design. This symbol of Ireland has become symbolic of Aer Lingus. In fact, the shamrock is such a core part of Aer Lingus’ brand that features four times on the airline’s livery.
The shamrocks can be found:
- In the logo;
- On the tail;
- At the door;
- And on the wingtips, something which Aer Lingus says is perfect for sharing on social media.
Additionally, each of Aer Lingus’ aircraft will undergo a repaint. This will see a white and teal livery applied.
When Will The Design Take Off?
The new Aer Lingus livery will debut tomorrow. Departing Dublin at 1050 tomorrow morning, an A330 sporting the new livery will operate EI105. It will touch down at JFK at 1340, where it is due to be met with a reception. Afterwards, on Monday an A320 sporting the new livery will fly a short haul route to Heathrow, however, it is unclear which service this will form.

If you can’t wait to see the new branding in action, it is already available on Aer Lingus’ website. With each widebody aircraft taking around 10 days to paint, it will take a while before the new branding is rolled out across the fleet!
Aer Lingus has ambitious plans for the future following great success in recent years. In fact, Sean Doyle, Aer Lingus’ CEO said the following: “We’re delighted to unveil our brand refresh today, which comes more than 20 years after Aer Lingus last invested in new brand livery, and reflects our position as a modern, contemporary airline. Aer Lingus has had exceptional success in recent years: adding new routes, new aircraft, new jobs and new opportunities for colleagues and guests alike.”
He went on to add: “We have ambitious plans for our future and the years ahead, yet we are aware of challenges facing the modern industry and thus investment in our new brand identity and livery… are considered investments in the future of Aer Lingus”. It was, however, made clear that travellers will have to wait longer for the new uniform. This will be launched later this year.
