In celebration of the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the start of the Eid Al Fitr holiday, Qatar Airways will be hosting special events onboard its aircraft and in its exclusive lounges during the first three days of Eid.

Eid Al Fitr signals not just the end of fasting but also spending joyous times with family and friends, as said by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker:

“Eid Al Fitr signifies the end of a month of perseverance and rigorous fasting, as well as a time for celebration with friends and family. This Eid, we are happy to see that travel continues to recover and that people are reuniting once again. We look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones to discover our expansive network of more than 140 destinations. On behalf of Qatar Airways, we wish you a very blessed Eid.”

Festivities with Qatar

The celebrations onboard will include a refreshing "Jaellab" drink to welcome passengers in Premium Cabins, a traditional Levant beverage made with rose water syrup and date molasses. Furthermore, passengers will enjoy a specially curated à la carte menu inspired by Middle-Eastern flavors, including a charcoal mixed-grill marinated with the region’s aromatic spices and a layered cheese ‘Kunafa,’ topped with crumbled pistachio for dessert.

As for passengers traveling in Economy Cabins, Qatar Airways has prepared a range of festive commemoratives and delicious Arabic flavors when flying during Eid Al Fitr. The in-flight dining menu will include lamb thareed stew with a side of vermicelli rice and a ‘Babsbousa’ semolina cake, soaked with sweet orange flower and rose water syrup, all presented on an ‘Eid’ themed tray mat with a cutlery band.

Qatar Airways also has celebrations for passengers in its hub base Doha Hamad International Airport. Passengers entitled to the Al Safwa First and Al Mourjan Business Lounges will savor the holiday’s favorite delicacies, including a selection of refreshing beverages – jaellab, tamarhindi, kamardine, and rose syrup, in addition to the traditional Arabic coffee and dates service.

Ramadan with Qatar

Besides the celebration of Eid, Qatar Airways has been providing other varieties of specials during the holy month of Ramadan. For example, the Doha-based Gulf carrier welcomed Ramadan by preparing specially designed Iftar treats that included a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian wraps, a sweet box with traditional Arabic desserts, dates, fresh laban, and water bottles.

The airline's Iftar treats were designed to embrace the spirit of the Holy Month and featured Arabic calligraphy writing, wishing passengers ‘Ramadan Kareem’. To share the joy and traditions of Iftar, all passengers were served an Iftar treat when traveling on select routes across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. In addition, Qatar Airways provided an Islamic collection on its in-flight entertainment system for passengers to listen to the Quran or enjoy watching different Islamic programs on the Islam and Life Channel.

And just reasonably recently, in a five-day promotion, the airline offered 20% off on all-inclusive Premium and Economy Cabin fares to more than 140 destinations worldwide. Furthermore, privileged club members could enjoy 4,000 bonus Avios in Premium and 2,000 in Economy. The promotion was valid for travel itineraries till September 30th, with Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Ehab Amin saying:

“We are pleased to offer further discounts on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. As we understand the importance of this month to many of our valued customers, we invite them to enjoy this offer and create memories with their loved ones around the globe by taking advantage of our incredible offers.”

Across the industry

Although it is typically expected for airlines to craft out uniquely curated menus for special occasions such as Eid, it does come as surprising that Qatar Airways is not choosing to ramp up its flight frequency schedules as well. As opposed to what fellow rival Emirates has done for Eid. Then again, it could be because Qatar Airways has been having some other problems at hand, such as the never-ending feud with Airbus.
