Qatar Airways today revealed a Boeing 777 painted in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 livery. The flag carrier of Qatar is proud to unveil this aircraft as its nation gears up to host the world-famous sporting event in two years.

The hype begins

The next World Cup will kick off on November 21st, 2022. Subsequently, the excitement has already started in Qatar as it continues to prepare for the arrival of an estimated 1.5 million additional international passengers into the country.

More Qatar Airways jets will hold FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 livery in the future for passengers around the world to see. However, this Boeing 777-300ER will enter service on November 21st. It will conduct flights QR095 and QR096 between Doha and Zurich. The carrier highlights that this inaugural route further reiterates its commitment to the FIFA partnership by flying to the sports institution's home in Switzerland.

Working together as a country

According to a press release seen by Simple Flying, Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker spoke about his airline and country's involvement in the global event. Altogether, organizations within Qatar have been busy preparing ahead of the highly-anticipated tournament.

“Qatar’s readiness to host FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM is evident all around us. At Qatar Airways, our network recently expanded to 100 destinations, and will further grow to more than 125 destinations by March 2021, with an increasing frequency enabling our passengers to travel when they want across the globe, safely and reliably," Al Baker said in the release.

"At Hamad International Airport, Official Airport Partner for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM, preparations for the expected traffic growth are well underway. The airport expansion project will increase capacity to more than 58 million passengers annually by 2022.”

Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Secretary General and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC Chairman, Hassan Al Thawadi, shared his delight of seeing key tournament delivery partners such as Qatar Airways achieve their own important objectives ahead of the tournament. He is excited to see FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 branding cover an entire plane. Altogether, he hopes that the reveal helps create a buzz for fans at the prospect of flying to Qatar on one of the jets to watch the matches in just a couple of years.

Not long to go

In December 2010, Russia and Qatar were selected as the hosts for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups respectively. Since then, organizations in Qatar have been putting in work to welcome future guests. FIFA Director of Marketing, Jean-François Pathy has taken note of official partner Qatar Airways' launch of the branded aircraft. He calls the move iconic and a milestone.
