Topping Up Your Asia Miles Balance
Cathay Pacific is a partner with several flexible points currencies. You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards to Asia miles at a ratio of 1:1, and transfers typically occur within one or two days. This means you can transfer points earned from The Platinum Card from American Express (learn more, and the American Express Gold Card (Read More), towards your next Cathay Pacific award redemption.
Asia Miles is also a transfer partner for Marriott Rewards. Transfers are completed at a ratio of 3:1, however, Marriott has an inbuilt transfer bonus of 5,000miles when you transfer 60.000 points. Transferring 60,000 Marriott points will yield 25,000 Asia Miles, a transfer ratio of 2:1.5. You can transfer all Marriott points including those earned from your The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card.
Finally, you can boost your Asia miles balance by transferring Citi ThankYou points, earned from your Citi Prestige Card, and your Citi ThankYou Premier Card. Transfers are at a ratio of 1:1.
As a rule, it is not a good idea to transfer hotel points to airline programs. Generally, the transfer ratios are very poor, and you can leverage your hotel points for much better value elsewhere. One notable exception is if you are very close to a specific redemption and have a bunch of orphan hotel points that you can not see yourself using for some time. If that is the case, then transferring your points to hit a redemption threshold can be a great use of your points, and if there is a bonus on offer, that just sweetens the deal.
