SWISS has decorated one of its Airbus A320neos in a special festive livery this winter. The airline has painted its plane with a red nose - a simple yet ingenious design transforming it into a giant reindeer.

SWISS reindeer livery

Travelers across Europe may spot a rather large reindeer flying through the skies this winter. But don't be confused - Santa hasn't bought himself an Airbus A320neo. You have most likely seen a SWISS International Air Lines A320neo sporting the airline's new festive livery.

The reindeer jet (registration: HB-JDC) is already flying across Europe and has been spied at various airports across the continent. The carrier has launched a social media campaign encouraging travelers to snap a picture of the jet-powered reindeer under the hashtag 'LXAirDeer.'

By the looks of it, passengers flying on the red-nosed A320neo can also look forward to a special goodie bag containing a gift from Santa, although this hasn't been confirmed by the airline. However, don't expect Santa Claus to be piloting the aircraft if you're lucky enough to snag a seat onboard - he's busy on a world tour with Finnair after a two-year hiatus due to COVID.

About HB-JDC

The lucky aircraft is a two-year-old Airbus A320neo that SWISS has named 'Pontresina'. The youthful A320neo can seat 180 passengers - all in economy - and was delivered to the Swiss carrier on New Year's Eve (December 31st, 2020).

SWISS welcomed its first Airbus A320neo back in February 2020 and has since taken delivery of five more, taking its total A320neo fleet to six aircraft. In fact, parent company Lufthansa was the first airline in the world to welcome the highly-efficient A320neo into its fleet in 2016.

Gourmet menu in time for Christmas

The airline has unveiled its latest premium menu for first and business passengers, inspired by Michelin-star restaurant After Seven in Canton Valais which is run by Florian Neubauer - the youngest chef in Europe to earn two Michelin stars.

In fact, SWISS is set to completely revamp its first and business class cabins in 2025, following in the footsteps of parent carrier Lufthansa. Additionally, the carrier recently reintroduced in-flight duty-free shopping for the first time since the pandemic, just in time for Christmas. SWISS has plenty to look forward to this winter, particularly after reaching an agreement with its pilots to avoid further strikes.
