Increased frequency

Starting August 13th, 2022, TAAG Angola Airlines will begin increasing the number of flights to specific international and domestic destinations. The airline announced that it would increase flight services to Cabinda Angola, São Paulo, Brazil, Windhoek, Namibia, and Maputo, Mozambique. These additional flights will be operated at standard passenger and cargo volumes. The only domestic flight is from Luanda, Angola, to Cabinda, Angola. Two additional flights will be added to this route, one on Saturdays and another on Sundays, bringing the total weekly number of flights operated between the two cities by the airline from 24 to 26. The flights will be flown on a Boeing 737-700.

International routes

Starting November 5th, 2022, TAAG Angola Airlines will operate an additional weekly flight between Luanda and São Paulo, Brazil. The new flight will be flown on Saturdays departing from Luanda and arriving in São Paulo. It will be flown on a Boeing 777-300ER. The airline currently operates this route on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Beginning October 2nd, 2022, the airline will add another flight to Maputo, Mozambique. This flight will also depart from Luanda. This addition will give the route a fourth weekly flight aboard a Boeing 737-700. The airline currently flies this route on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Another flight service will also be added on October 2nd. This new flight will increase weekly service from Luanda to Windhoek, Namibia, to five flights compared to the previous four. The airline currently flies this route on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The additional flight aboard a Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 aircraft will be flown on Sundays.

Growing demand

The 84-year-old airline has stated that the reason behind the additional frequency of these routes is the demand it has seen on a global scale. It cites that the airline has recently encountered strong demand for air travel to these countries - far more than it has for its other international destinations. The airline stated,

"Globally, we noticed an increase in flights to Lusophone countries (Mozambique and Brazil), Austral zone (Namibia), in addition to Cabinda, a major domestic destination for Angolan passengers."

It is no secret that demand for air travel has increased heavily over the past year. TAAG Airlines is now one of many airlines that have chosen to increase the frequency of current flights in response to this demand.
