Hyatt has a history of being rather generous with its perks for rewards program members, but is the World of Hyatt rewards program the best fit for you?
How to earn World of Hyatt Points
The best way to earn World of Hyatt points is via The World Of Hyatt Credit Card, which sometimes you can find with some pretty nice sign-up bonuses. The card, which has a small annual fee, does have some good perks, including automatic Hyatt Discoverist status and an annual free night. You’ll earn points at a rate of 4 per $1 spent on Hyatt stays; 2 per $1 on airfare booked directly with airlines, as well as dining and car rentals; and 1 per $1 on all other purchases.
Beyond earning points through this card, you can earn points via any Chase Ultimate Rewards card.
Whenever you stay with a Hyatt brand, you’ll also receive 5 base points for every $1 spent on the stay, including charges made to your room.
Other ways to earn points include via travel partners, such as Avis.
There are four tiers of the World of Hyatt rewards program.
Basic members receive the following:
- 10-percent savings on hotel rates
- Members-only offers
- Points-earning abilities
- A free night after staying at five different Hyatt brands
Discoverist members receive:
- 10-percent bonus points on qualifying purchases
- Late check-out
- Free WiFi
Explorist members receive:
- 20-percent bonus points on qualifying purchases
- Four club lounge access awards each year
Globalist members receive:
- 30-percent bonus points on qualifying purchases
- Room upgrades
- Club lounge access
- Even later check-out, with the option to stick around until 4 p.m.
How to Redeem
Hyatt is known for its great redemption value, through which you can book more luxurious properties for fewer points. If it’s luxury you’re going for, you can make your points go much further with Hyatt than you possibly could with some of the other hotel brands.
A cash plus points redemption offer is available, and you can use your points for upgrades rather than free nights, too.
You can also convert your points into miles with a selection of airlines.
The World of Hyatt program provides members with great redemption value, if you’re able to earn the points through your travel, or through spending on either the hotel-branded card or a Chase Ultimate Rewards card.
