New international routes now on sale

The return of the Guarulhos-Johannesburg route was highly anticipated, and a short time after announcing the resumption, LATAM Brasil placed tickets on sale for the route. The carrier will resume flights between Brazil and South Africa on August 3, 2023. Its Brasilia-Lima and Porto-Alegre-Santiago route will begin on March 26, 2023.

Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing, LATAM Brasil, said,

"Despite the growth of our domestic operations, it is important to remember that we never stopped international services. We are an airline without borders and our service from Brasil continues to connect our country to the rest of the world more than any other airline. It is with this spirit that we wlcome all of our passengers on the new routes to Peru, Chile, and South Africa."

LATAM Brasil's daily flight from Brasilia to Lima will have a duration of 4h50 and will be serviced by the airline's Airbus A319 and A320. Both aircraft are configured in a two-cabin configuration and have 8 Premium Economy seats. The A319 has 132 Economy seats, and the A320 has 168.

The new route will reduce transit time between Brasilia and Peru in half, compared to flights that connect in other airports. Passengers leaving Peru can connect to at least 30 other Brazilian airports and a few international destinations.

The Porto Alegre-Santiago route will have three weekly flights on the airline's Airbus A320. Flights will leave POA at 19:05 local time on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and will leave Santiago at 14:28 local time on the same days. The new route will be the second nonstop international flight from Porto Alegre, as LATAM Brasil already flies to Lima.

Flights from São Paulo to Johannesburg will be on LATAM Brasil's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with a capacity for 300 passengers, 30 in Premium Business, 57 in Economy+, and 213 in Economy. The 787-9 will depart São Paulo at 17:25 on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The return flight will leave Johannesburg at 12:45 on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

New route from São Paulo to Los Angeles

Also launching in July is a nonstop flight from São Paulo to Los Angeles. As part of the newly approved joint venture agreement between LATAM and Delta Air Lines, LATAM Brasil announced last week that it was launching nonstop flights to the West Coast of the United States. Never before has the Latin American carrier flown from Brasil to the US West Coast.

The announcement of the new route is significant as flights have connected the two cities in the past, but for the past 22 years, service has not been constant. Previously, airlines like Varig, Korean Air, Japan Airlines, and American Airlines flew from Los Angeles to São Paulo. American Airlines was the most recent and cut the route during the COVID pandemic.
