Starting April 1st, Turkish Airlines will resume the daily frequency between its hub at Istanbul International Airport and Brazil's São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport. The carrier currently operates six weekly services between Istanbul and São Paulo on Airbus A350-900s.

The increase in frequency will raise Turkish Airlines' number of seats from 1,976 offered per week currently to 2,303 seats from the beginning of April.

The Star Alliance member previously operated one flight per day on the above-mentioned route until November 2021.

Increased frequencies to the Brazilian hotspot.

The flights depart from Istanbul International Airport (IST) and arrive in São Paulo in the evening after a flight of approximately 13 hours. São Paulo Guarulhos Airport (GRU), which is the busiest in the southern hemisphere, serves more than 36 million passengers each year.

São Paulo is with a population of over 17 million. Several highlights include the São Paulo Museum of Art, Ibirapuera Park, São Paulo Cathedral, São Paulo Football Museum, the open market Mercado Municipal, Banespa Building, Catavento Museum, Sae Banto Monastery, and Japanese District.

The airport is 40 km from the city center and well connected by bus and taxi with the average transfer time being under an hour, depending on traffic.

Flights to be operated on A350-900s.

Turkish Airlines will fly its A350-900, which features a two-class configuration with 32 lie-flat business class seats and 297 standard economy class seats. After months of delays, the new aircraft is finally being delivered to the Turkish flag carrier and deployed on high-traffic routes like Amsterdam and Dubai.

Additional services with the new aircraft are reported to commence shortly to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Incheon International Airport (ICN) Seoul, South Korea. In total, Turkish Airlines has 25 Airbus A350s on order, with options for five more.

The widebody aircraft also features the new-generation Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, which results in a 19% reduction in admissions over previous generations. The fuel savings are partly due to the A350-900's structure being composed of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), which is much lighter and more aerodynamic than other materials.

Lost dog drama at São Paulo International Airport.

The South American airport also recently made the news after a dog named Pandora was lost during a stopover while flying to Navegantes with GOL Linhas Aereas. Pandora was carried onboard in a kennel reportedly escaped through the cargo loading area. She was safely found under a bridge in Terminal 3 of the airport and reunited with her owner after 45 days; the airline confirmed to Simple Flying earlier this year.
